Psychometric properties of the Persian version of Triarchic Psychopathy Measure (TriPM) in Iranian university students and clinical samples.

The Triarchic Psychopathy Measure (TriPM) assesses the Boldness, Meanness, and Disinhibition dimensions of psychopathy. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Persian TriPM in university students (n = 941, aged 18-67, Mage = 28.36, SD = 9.09; 39.1 % male) and a male clinical sample (n = 188, aged 18-65, Mage = 35.05, SD = 10.75) in Iran. Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) supported the original three-factor model only in the clinical sample, though with notable instances of poor item functioning (e.g., low loadings and high cross-loadings). In the students' sample

Predicting Non-suicidal Self-Injury and Suicidal Ideation Among University Students: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicidal ideation (SI) represent significant mental health challenges among university students. In low- and middle-income contexts like Bangladesh, there is limited understanding of how these behaviors differentially affect students with and without mental illness. This study addresses these gaps by investigating the prevalence and risk factors of NSSI and SI, with stratified analyses by mental illness status, to predict these behaviors. This cross-sectional study recruited 1401 university students between December 2024 and January 2025. Data was collected

Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Psychometric Validation of the Polish Version of Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS).

Background: There is a growing demand for sensitive and accurate screening tools for the early detection of cognitive impairment. The Rowland Universal Dementia Assessment Scale (RUDAS) has shown promise in multicultural populations. It may offer advantages over the widely used Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), which has limited sensitivity, particularly in assessing executive functions. The aim of this study was to adapt and validate the Polish version of the RUDAS and to compare its diagnostic performance with the MMSE in detecting cognitive impairment among patients with Alzheimer's dis

The evolving epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance of ESKAPE pathogens isolated in the intensive care unit of a Greek university hospital.

BACKGROUND: The ESKAPE group (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter) is a major cause of life-threatening infections in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) critically ill patients accounting for significant morbidity and mortality. Management of infections by ESKAPE pathogens is complicated due to the remarkable rise in the rates of multidrug resistance (MDR) to most antimicrobial agents. This study investigated the trends of prevalence and antimicrobial resistance profiles of the ESKAPE pathogens isolated from c

Scaling up a success story: how do we achieve universal access to transcranial magnetic stimulation?

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Over one billion people suffer from psychiatric and/or neurological disorders for which transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has shown efficacy. Achieving widespread TMS access will require major improvements to cost and convenience. A key figure of merit for a given TMS protocol concerns not its remission rate or tolerability, but simply its treatment time per remission (TTPR). RECENT FINDINGS: Outcomes for conventional bilateral TMS protocols imply a TTPR of more than 100 h - incompatible with widespread access. However, briefer accelerated and/or theta-burst protocols

Generalized anxiety disorder is associated with the consumption of ultra-processed foods and eating behaviors markers in university students.

Brazilian university students face significant health challenges, with over one-third exceeding a healthy weight and Brazil experiencing the highest global prevalence of anxiety. We hypothesized that screening positive for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) would be associated with increased intake of ultra-processed foods (UPF) and unfavorable eating behaviors in this population. This cross-sectional study included 5,946 students (aged 18-59 years) from 94 Brazilian universities. GAD prevalence was assessed using the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7), while dietary markers and…

Application of Universal LNA Probe-Mediated Multiplex Real-Time PCR for the Detection of Antibiotic Resistance Genes.

The rising resistance of pathogens has increasingly complicated antibiotic treatments, leading to prolonged therapy durations and the potential for inadequate disease management. Current clinical methods (e.g., culture-based AST, conventional PCR, Sanger sequencing) for assessing microbial resistance are hampered by lengthy processing times, limited sensitivity, or high costs. In this study, we developed a multiplex quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) method using custom-designed universal locked nucleic acid (LNA) probes. This approach eliminates the need for target-specific fluores

Precision Genomics: A Reality Having Universal Impact in a New Era of Psychiatry - Lessons Learned, Past and Present.

Addiction neuroscience explores the complex interplay between genetic, neurobiological, environmental, and socio-spiritual factors underlying substance and behavioral addictions. Over the past three decades, research in this domain has identified critical molecular and epigenetic mechanisms-particularly those affecting dopaminergic signaling and reward pathways-that contribute to both vulnerability and resilience to addictive behaviors. Central to this understanding is the concept of reward deficiency syndrome (RDS), first introduced by Kenneth Blum, which posits that hypodopaminergic function
