INTRODUCTION: The pes anserinus consists of the sartorius, semitendinosus, and gracilis muscles. They coalesce together with the leg fascia to form the anserine plate. The semitendinosus and gracilis both form the deep layer of this plate and are clinically relevant for ligament reconstruction.
