Based on the conditions of this study, the following conclusions were reached: A success rate of 70 percent seems to justify further investigation into direct bonded space maintainers. A space maintainer directly bonded to the buccal surfaces seems to be efficient in maintaining single tooth spaces. Primary-to-primary appliances were more successful than the primary-to-permanent appliances, which suggests that incomplete first permanent molar eruption and a posterior location affect appliance durability.

OBJECTIVES: Deep overbite correction with clear aligners faces challenges including decreased anterior intrusion efficiency and spontaneous molar intrusion. Bite planes are often incorporated to address these issues, but their effects remain debated. This study aimed to investigate the impact of bite planes on anterior intrusion efficiency and posterior displacement during a specific deep overbite correction phase using clear aligners.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study included 36 adult patients with deep overbite who were treated with the clear aligner (Smartee® system) divided

TRIAL DESIGN: Parallel.
OBJECTIVE: To compare skeletally anchored Carriere Motion appliance (CMA) for distalization of the maxillary buccal segment vs. Essix anchored CMA.
METHODS: Thirty-two class II malocclusion patients were randomly allocated into two equal groups. One group was treated with infrazygomatic (IZC) miniscrew- anchored CMA (IZCG) and the other group treated with Essix retainer- anchored CMA (EXG). Two lateral cephalograms and two digital models for upper and lower arches were taken for each patient: immediately before intervention and after distalization had been completed.

INTRODUCTION: The mechanical distribution of the mandible is an important factor that affects functional orthosis during Twin-block (TB) appliance correction. Changes in the mandible before and after TB appliance correction are also key factors in maintaining the therapeutic effect. Finite element analysis, a powerful numerical, analytical tool, is widely used to predict the stress and strain distribution of the craniofacial bone that orthodontics generates.
METHODS: The sample was a 14-year-old male patient with Class II malocclusion during growth. A cone-beam computed tomography scan was un

BACKGROUND: Herbst therapy is an effective treatment for Class II malocclusions. However, the maintenance of the effects after fixed appliances treatment remains questionable. This retrospective study aimed to assess, using digital dental models, the sagittal and transverse dental arch changes in young patients during two Class II Division 1 treatment phases, first with modified Herbst appliance (HA) and then with fixed appliances.
METHODS: The treated group (TG) comprised 32 patients (17 boys, 15 girls; mean age, 12.85 ± 1.16 years) treated with HA and fixed appliances. The control group com

A 13-year-old adolescent male patient had a convex profile, severe overjet, and deep overbite with a skeletal Class II pattern. His maxillary dentition was distalized using a modified C-palatal plate (MCPP), and the treatment outcome was stable. After 37 months of total treatment, a pleasing profile and a favorable Class I occlusion was successfully achieved with 5 mm of distalization in the maxillary dentition. MCPP is a viable treatment option for full-step Class II in adolescents, especially when the patients/parents decline the extraction option.

The treatment of children presenting with a Class II division I malocclusion involves one of two approaches. The first provides treatment in two phases; one of intervention during the mixed dentition (phase I) followed by a second definitive course of appliance treatment in early adolescence (phase II). The second approach involves providing a single course of comprehensive therapy during adolescence. The debate for and against early treatment is discussed alongside key, clinically relevant evidence related to Class II division I malocclusions.

Intrusive luxation of primary teeth carries a high risk of damage to underlying permanent tooth germs. Ectopic eruption of permanent incisors is an unusual outcome of traumatic injury to their predecessors. In this case report, we describe the multidisciplinary management of the consequences of a primary tooth intrusion that led to severe ectopic eruption of the permanent left central incisor in a horizontal position at the level of the labial sulcus.

Multipurpose titanium miniplates were placed on the lateral nasal wall of the maxilla as anchorage for face mask protraction in an 11-year-old girl presenting with severe maxillary hypoplasia and hypodontia. Applying orthopedic forces directly to the maxilla resulted in an eight mm maxillary advancement. Intraosseous titanium screws were also placed on the palatal bone, near the alveolar crests, to provide anchorage for the expansion appliance. The maxilla was expanded from the median palatal suture, and seven mm of expansion was achieved across the buccal segments. No other tooth support was
