The objective of this study was to describe associations of retinal arteriolar abnormalities with clinical and subclinical manifestations of atherosclerosis and a broad group of risk factors for vascular disease. A patient with vasculitis apparently caused by rubella and diagnosed during her life-time is here presented. The girl showed optic neuritis and large vascular changes in the eye fundi (retinal vasculitis). High intrathecal antibody production against rubella but little or none against other viruses was found in the cerebrospinal fluid. This study suggests that immunoactivation after rubella vaccination may remain and lead to vascular changes.

It is well known that diabetic patients are at an increased risk of the earlier development of significant atherosclerotic disease. We wish to report the case of a young insulin-dependent diabetic with an 18 months history of rapidly progressing 'diabetic' retinopathy who presented with right-sided weakness and was found to have severe carotid artery disease. We suggest that the sudden proliferation in his retinopathy was due to retinal ischaemia secondary to the carotid artery stenosis and we wish to present this as a case of ocular ischaemic syndrome in a young diabetic patient.

BACKGROUND: Lacrimal caruncular tumors are rare and exhibit a diversity of possible histopathological types. The majority of caruncular tumors are benign, followed by premalignant and malignant lesions, which are associated with a poorer prognosis. Clinical diagnosis is challenging. Therefore, a tissue biopsy is considered and performed based on the presence of features suggesting malignant or undetermined tumors for a definite diagnosis and proper management. The coexistence of different types of benign caruncular tumors is extremely rare and has been rarely described.

PURPOSE: To characterize the multimodal imaging features of pachychoroid-associated choroidal ossification (PACO), a newly proposed entity, in eyes with pachychoroid diseases.
METHODS: This retrospective case series included 12 eyes in 11 patients with PACO and 14 age-matched eyes with choroidal osteoma as a control group. Lesions were characterized using multimodal fundus imaging, which included B-scan ultrasonography.
