Epididymal and testicular spermatozoa have been used widely for ICSI among men with obstructive azoospermia and NOA. New aspiration and biopsy techniques are available, and several sperm preparation methods have been described to isolate sperm. Most samples have sufficient sperm for cryopreservation. Accordingly, clinicians must sort through these new procedures to develop treatment plans that best suit their practices. In the future, other methods will be developed, and clinicians will have to critically review them prior to use.

OBJECTIVE: The rising incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) since the Second World War coincides with profound changes of the dietary pattern. The aim of the study was to investigate the possible pathogenic role of some characteristic 'modern life' dietary factors in IBD.
DESIGN: Case-control, studying risk factors in recently diagnosed cases, 290 with Crohn's disease and 398 with ulcerative colitis, compared with 616 population controls. Smoking, age, gender and education were taken into account by using logistic regression analysis.

Investigations on the reasons of infectious abortion cases in sheep flocks in northern parts of Baden-Wuerttemberg eludicate the wide-spreading of Chlamydia psittaci (C. psittaci) and its significance as the most frequent cause of abortions in sheep. Fifteen patients with cardiac myxomas, 13 in the left atrium, one in the right atrium and one in the right ventricle were treated surgically during a 15 years period with no hospital and no late deaths. Left atrial myxomas revealed symptoms of obstruction to blood flow in 100%, symptoms of constitutional effects in 55% and thromboembolic events in 23%. In this study a group of 104 multiply injured patients (mean ISS = 34) was examined for physical status and social reintegration. Essentially it was noted that 76 per cent of all patients were able to return back to work, although this appears to be age dependent. Open fractures of the leg seem to be the dominating prognostic factor for reintegration resulting in a disability rate of between 20 and 50 per cent.
