A 73-year-old man hit his fore-chest accidentally when he rode his motorcycle. A huge flail chest was observed on his central fore-chest, and multiple fractures of costal cartilage were suspected. He developed pneumonia on the 4th hospital day, and he was intubated and mechanical ventilation was initiated. A 22-year-old man developed exertional dyspnea 2 years after blunt chest trauma due to a horse kick. Preoperative echocardiography showed severe tricuspid insufficiency (TI) caused by chordal rupture and prolapse of the anterior leaflet. We report five cases that the paraplegic level showed ascending from the segment of spinal injury upward to the higher level. In T10-11 fracture-dislocation, the paraplegic level ascended gradually to C2-3 in case 1 within 10 days and death due to breathing paralysis. A 32-year-old male riding a motorcycle was involved in an accident resulting in blunt torso trauma. He had fractures of the skull, first right rib, and left femoral bone. Electrocardiogram showed acute anteroseptal myocardial infarction (MI). Subsequent coronary angiogram demonstrated laceration at the proximal portion of the left anterior descending coronary artery. A case of bullet embolus from a pulmonary vein to the right axillary artery is reported. A migratory intravascular bullet fragment located within the hypogastric vein was removed successfully with the aid of interventional radiologic techniques. The authors describe the use of the technique of balloon trapping as part of this procedure. A balloon should be inflated between the foreign body and the heart before retrieval is attempted in order to prevent migration back to the heart during the manipulation.
