Many factors influence the development of CTS; therefore, nonoperative treatment should not be limited to only one intervention. Nonoperative treatment is most effective in the early stages, prior to irreparable damage to the nerve. Early intervention combined with a comprehensive treatment plan can help improve effectiveness of treatment during this phase. We do not endorse any one particular conservative treatment/program as the solution for CTS, but our purpose is to explore potential options. Further study is needed to determine the most beneficial and cost-effective treatments.

As shown by clinical, electrophysiological and hormonal examinations of 34 patients with chronic inflammation of the uterine appendages and control subjects, the disease treatment with intensive low-frequency current has no negative effects on cardiovascular and endocrine systems, improves function of the reproductive system. Intensive low-frequency currents are believed to be a useful modality in management of chronic genital inflammation.

Twenty-one patients with congestive heart failure were examined with duplex sonographic scanning of the portal vein. The Doppler sonographic findings were compared with those of healthy subjects, patients with chronic liver disease, and patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome. A prospective study compared the diagnostic capability of quantitative Duplex sonography (DS) and color Doppler imaging (CDI) in 49 consecutive patients with 50 renal allografts. Acoustic methods (measuring the speed of sound) and separate measurements of the density of 10 fresh, unfixed discs at the anterior, central and posterior band were used to determine the module of elasticity. Adjuvant to cancer therapy, 35 percutaneous ultrasound-guided nephrostomies have been applied in 21 patients with ureteral occlusions or lesions secondary to advanced gynecologic malignancies. Application of the catheters was uncomplicated. Dislodgement of the catheters was the major problem with this technique, occurring in 9 cases. There were no serious complications. Three hundred and seventy-seven patients with brachial pain and 63 controls have been examined regarding presence of symptomatic compression of the brachial plexus and subclavian vessels (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome = TOS). Each patient was examined clinically and by Doppler flowmetry.
