BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Numb chin syndrome (NCS) is a critical sign of systemic malignancy; however it remains largely unknown by clinicians and dentists. The aim of this study was to investigate NCS that is more often associated with metastatic cancers than with benign diseases.

OBJECTIVE: We report a rare case of malignant priapism secondary to transitional cell carcinoma.
METHODS: The patient with bladder cancer (pT4G3) presented with painful penile erection. Corpora cavernosa biopsy was done.
RESULTS: The pathologic diagnosis was penile metastasis of transitional cell carcinoma.
CONCLUSIONS: Priapism secondary to penile metastasis of transitional cell carcinoma is rare and indicates advanced disease with a poor prognosis.

Skeletal metastases commonly occur in patients with cancer and treatment is necessary to alleviate pain and prevent complications, such as mobility deficiencies and pathologic fractures. The authors present a patient with a stage IV malignant melanoma and a pathologic fracture of the left tibial plateau treated with radiofrequency heat ablation and percutaneous cementoplasty for defect filling and stabilization. The authors believe that this approach may be an alternative to the standard treatments in palliative-care situations.

INTRODUCTION: The humerus is the second most common site for metastasis in the peripheral skeleton. These humeral metastases (HM) occur in the midshaft in 42% to 61% of cases and theproximal humerus in 32% to 45% of cases. They are often secondary to primary breast (17-31%), kidney (13-15%) or lung (11-24%) cancer. The optimal surgical treatment between intramedullary (IM) procedures, fixation or arthroplasty is still being debated.
HYPOTHESIS: We hypothesized that fixation and/or arthroplasty are safe and effective options for controlling pain and improving the patients' function.

Ninety-five patients with stage C (C1 + C2) or D (D1 + D2) prostatic carcinoma were treated with the long-acting formulation of D-TRP-6 LH-RH (Decapeptyl) for up to 39 months. Of 88 patients evaluable for response, about one-half showed an objective response. In most cases, subjective improvement with relief of bone pain and/or urinary symptoms was obtained.
