This study was aimed at documenting the location, shape, and direction of the opening of the mental foramen in dry mandibles of adult black Tanzanian population. A hundred mandibles were available for studying. In 45% the mental foramen was located below the apex of the second premolar, 35% between the second premolar and the first molar, 12% between the first premolar and second premolar and 8% below the first molar. There were investigated 22 cases from which the thymic tissue was removed either during surgery for cardiovascular malformations (n = 14), or for myasthenia gravis (n = 8). Venous access is often essential in critical care medicine. The internal jugular vein (IJV) often provides reliable blood flow when subjected to cannulation. However, anatomical variations of the IJV have been reported as the cause of unsuccessful and complicated venous cannulation. We report ultrasonographic findings of an extremely rare variant of the right IJV in which this structure was located medial to the common carotid artery in the lower neck. A review of the literature on this topic is presented.

The perichondral ossification of the limb long bones in the quail embryo is investigated, in this study, by means of light and electron microscopy. In this paper we have realized a study on 43 patients on which the retro-alveolar radiological exam has shown the existence of a calcareous structure within the pulp chamber having in view a better knowledge of this structure and its etiology, way of forming and pathological implications. Primary osteosarcomas of the breast are rare tumors. We report a 58-year-old woman who presented with a left breast lump suggestive of phyllodes tumor. A sectorectomy was performed and histological examination revealed a chondroblastic osteosarcoma, an unusual finding. Two months later she underwent a mastectomy. A review of the literature revealed the divergency of therapeutic options.
