This article describes a novel approach using high-dose neoadjuvant chemotherapy with wide tissue resection and a specially designed artificial joint in 104 patients with stage IIB osteosarcoma near the knee. Sixty-four lesions were located at the distal femur, 39 at the proximal tibia, and 1 invaded the proximal tibia from the distal femur. Pathological fracture was present in 9 patients. The results of 109 primary total hip arthroplasties in 92 patients performed in Hospital Kuala Lumpur from January 1987 to December 1996 were reviewed after a mean follow-up of 30.8 months. There were 22 males and 70 females with the average age of 49.9 years (range 19 to 94 years). Chinese females comprised the largest group of patients (52.2%). In this paper, the fatigue crack growth rates of typical pressure vessel material 4130X under different corrosion conditions are investigated, and the effects of corrosion modes and loading frequency on the fatigue crack growth rate of 4130X are discussed. INTRODUCTION: Infant's cervical spine has serious differences compared to other pediatric age groups and adults. Anatomical and biomechanical constitution of an infant is unique, and the pediatric spine gradually begins to resemble the structure of the adult spine after age 10. In addition, clinical presentation of the cervical spinal traumas has many distinctions from birth to the end of adolescence. In young children, cervical spine traumas are mainly localized in the upper cervical region. Trauma localized in subaxial cervical region and fracture-dislocations are rare in infants.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been the most common surgery performed for complications of bipolar arthroplasty. We wanted to evaluate functional results and complications after conversion of bipolar hemiarthroplasty to THA in 25 patients followed for an average of 7.2 years. Indications for conversion included acetabular erosion with well-fixed femoral stem in 13 patients, acetabular erosion with femoral loosening in 8 patients, and periprosthetic fracture in 4 patients.
