A solution RIA determines the amount of a specific protein (or peptide) in a sample by comparison to a standard curve of the same protein (or peptide). INTRODUCTION: High-density porous polyethylene (Medpor) enophthalmic implants are used in patients with the sunken socket syndrome to augment the orbital volume. We have used them to improve enophthalmos and hypoglobus in the repair of large long-standing orbital floor fractures. Osmotically rupturable systems were developed and the release of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride (model drug) from the systems was investigated. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate tolerance and diagnostic yield of colonoscopy in elderly patients.
METHODS: We studied retrospectively 200 consecutive colonoscopies performed in patients older than 80 years (mean age: 83.5 +/- 3.1). We analyzed the following factors: indication, type and tolerance of the preparation, analgesia, tolerance of the procedure, information provided by the examination and therapeutic consequences.

The mobilization and solubilization of cytoplasmic and nuclear proteins occurred much faster (less than 5 minutes) with Triton X-100 treatment than with Brij 58 treatment (less than 10 minutes). Effects of detergents--triton X-100 and deoxycholate--on the main respiratory chain and cyanide-resistant electron transfer pathway in the mitochondria of Candida lipolytica yeast were studied.
