The aim of this study was to determine if it is possible to exclude renal obstruction using diuresis renography in the first 6 weeks of life (the period of physiological renal immaturity), thus avoiding unnecessary invasive procedures, such as the Whitaker test or surgery. A 66-year-old woman with Hürthle cell thyroid carcinoma associated with a right adrenal gland metastasis suspected on a postradioiodine therapy scan, is reported. Histology specimens confirmed the suspicion. Adrenal metastases have never been reported previously in this kind of tumor. On radionuclide imaging, there was marked I-131 uptake in the tumor remnant and its metastases, and the tumor spread through both lymphatic and hematogenous routes, as shown by lymph node, bone, and lung metastases.

A retrospective study was conducted into technetium-99m sestamibi imaging of primary hyperparathyroidism to determine the accuracy of identification and localization of parathyroid pathology. Of 56 patients studied, 48 had full preoperative scan data, operative data and pathological results analysed. Overall scan accuracy was 96 per cent. For single gland pathology (adenoma) imaging had a sensitivity of 97 per cent, a specificity of 100 per cent and a positive predictive value of 100 per cent. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Radiolabeled immunoglobulin therapy (RIT) can be a selective, effective, low-toxicity outpatient cancer therapy. A consensus on the best approach for the preclinical and clinical development of RIT reagents needs to be developed. We report the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center prior experience in translating RIT from laboratory to clinic for the treatment of Hodgkin's disease and propose a flow diagram for the development of RIT for other malignancies.

Cerebral blood flow (CBF) was measured by 133Xe clearance simultaneously with the velocity of blood flow through the left middle cerebral artery (MCA) over a wide range of arterial PCO2 in eight normal men. The effects of the Auger electron-emitting isotope 123I, covalently bound to estrogen, on DNA single- and double-strand breakage and on chromosome breakage was determined in estrogen receptor-positive Chinese hamster ovary (CHO-ER) cells. PURPOSE: We examined the pressure dynamics of hydronephrotic kidneys after elevated renal pelvic pressure developed.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 40 patients (44 renal units) 0.2 to 12 years old was evaluated. Transiently elevated renal pelvic pressure was induced with a percutaneous nephrostomy infusion. To evaluate the difference in myocardial damage between primary aldosteronism and untreated essential hypertension, we performed thallium-201 myocardial single-photon emission computed tomography in 10 patients with primary aldosteronism and 10 patients with essential hypertension who were matched for age, sex, blood pressure, and the severity of left ventricular hypertrophy for primary aldosteronism. Qualitative ultrastructural autoradiography was used to study the binding of the vascular anticoagulant alpha (annexin V) to normal and atherosclerotic (AS) rabbit aortic intima.
