An epidemiological survey of cystic echinococcosis (CE) in cattle and sheep was conducted from October 2009 to October 2011 in endemic areas of north-eastern and southern Romania. A total of 8569 animals (3043 cattle and 5526 sheep) were examined, and hydatid cysts were found in 984 (32.34%) cattle and 2756 (49.87%) sheep, respectively.
