Sexual health after childbirth: a qualitative study of women's experiences.

BACKGROUND: Sexual health is a vital component of overall well-being but receives limited attention in postpartum care. This study aimed to explore how pregnancy and childbirth shape women's experiences of sexual health, and to identify how care and support can be tailored to promote sexual well-being after childbirth. METHODS: We conducted an inductive qualitative study based on individual interviews with twenty women who had given birth in Sweden within the previous two years. Data were analysed using Braun and Clarke's reflexive thematic analysis. The resulting themes were subsequently int…

Mandibular trabecular bone pattern before and two years after medical or surgical obesity treatment in young Swedish women.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate if changes in body mass index (BMI) result in changes of the mandibular trabecular bone structure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Females (18-35 years at baseline, mean BMI 42,3) were followed from before (n = 117) until two years (n = 66) after obesity treatment (medical or surgical). The mandibular bone trabeculation was classified as sparse, dense, or mixed on intraoral radiographs (Lindh's index). A digitized method (Jaw-X) assessed the size and intensities of intertrabecular spaces. The main predictor variable was BMI reduction over the period. RESULTS: Before treatmen

Striving Towards National Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines: An Empirical Investigation Among a Sample of Swedish Gamblers.

Several countries, including Canada and Australia, have developed public health-based lower-risk gambling limits to differentiate lower-risk from higher-risk gambling. This study aimed to identify a preliminary set of lower-risk gambling limits (gambling frequency, duration, expenditure, expenditure as a proportion of personal net income, and diversity), and investigate if gambling types are linked to additional harms, in a Swedish context. The study involved secondary analyses of two online survey studies using the Gambling Disorder Identification Test (GDIT). Receiver operating curve analyse

Sickness absence among privately employed white-collar workers during the COVID-19 pandemic; a prospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it several changes, both regarding infection with COVID-19 itself as well as measures to combat the spread of infection, that might have affected sickness absence (SA) patterns. The aim was to explore whether incidence and length of SA changed between 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well as to determine factors associated with SA due to COVID-19 or COVID-like diagnoses among privately employed white-collar workers. METHODS: A cohort of all privately employed white-collar workers in 2018 in Sweden (n = 1 347 778; 47% women) was followed prospectively dur…

Prevalence and symptoms of incidental meningiomas: a population-based study.

BACKGROUND: Meningioma is the most common intracranial primary neoplasm and is often discovered accidentally. Common and non-specific symptoms such as headache and dizziness may be wrongfully attributed to meningiomas, which can lead to unnecessary surgery and anxiety for the patient. Understanding the prevalence of meningioma is therefore pivotal to assess the burden of this disease and determine indications for surgery. METHOD: Participants in this study were recruited through "The Gothenburg H70 Birth cohort study" wherein the health of 70-year-olds is examined. Clinical characteristics an

Protocolized reduction of non-resuscitation fluids versus usual care in septic shock patients (REDUSE): a randomized multicentre feasibility trial.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Non-resuscitation fluids constitute the majority of fluid administered for septic shock patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). This multicentre, randomized, feasibility trial was conducted to test the hypothesis that a restrictive protocol targeting non-resuscitation fluids reduces the overall volume administered compared with usual care. METHODS: Adults with septic shock in six Swedish ICUs were randomized within 12 h of ICU admission to receive either protocolized reduction of non-resuscitation fluids or usual care. The primary outcome was the total volume of fluid a
