We describe an unusual case of metastatic choriocarcinoma of the pancreas arising from a regressing testicular mixed germ cell tumor that clinically mimicked a primary pancreatic tumor. A 54-year-old male presented with a 2-month history of progressive upper abdominal pain, weight loss, and jaundice. He also had a history of recurrent epididymitis associated with the presence of a right testicular mass shown to be cystic by ultrasound and stable for at least 10 years. AIM: Gynaecomastia is the commonest benign breast condition seen in men. It is usually due to age, co-existing disease, drugs or idiopathic factors. Rarely is the cause a testicular tumour. We have assessed those men who were subsequently diagnosed as having a testicular tumour in a population of men referred to a specialist breast surgeon.
METHODS: A retrospective review of 175 men who had presented with breast enlargement and/or 'lumps' over seven years (1993-2000) to a specialist breast surgeon was performed. All patients were investigated by a protocol including biochemical assessment.

CASE: A case of concomitant abdominal and intrauterine pregnancy following in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) occurred in a woman with bilateral salpingectomy. The abdominal pregnancy was successfully treated surgically, with preservation of the intrauterine pregnancy.

In a study of 30 802 unaffected pregnancies and 90 cases of Down syndrome I have analysed second trimester maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and free beta-human chorionic gonadotrophin (beta-hCG) and grouped the data by fetal sex. In pregnancies with an unaffected female fetus maternal serum AFP was significantly lower (3%) than in the presence of a male fetus, whilst free beta-hCG was significantly raised (7%) in the presence of a female fetus.
