An 18-year-old Asian woman with a history of substance abuse presented to the Emergency Department with right-sided abdominal pain and hematuria of several months duration. Physical examination revealed right upper quadrant and suprapubic tenderness. Liver function tests were normal. OBJECTIVE: To describe a case of emphysematous prostatitis in a 70-year-old male patient. The rarity of this condition is underscored, the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects are discussed and the literature briefly reviewed.
