Thirty patients presenting with a clinical stage A or B cancer underwent TRUS and MRI with a body coil prior to radical prostatectomy. Imaging and pathology were correlated to assess the limits of TRUS and MRI in pre-operative staging of prostatic carcinoma. Results showed that TRUS and MRI had a sensitivity of 42 and 66% and a specificity of 89 and 94% respectively, for the diagnosis of macroscopic capsular effraction. The results of laboratory investigations in 156 patients presenting with faecal incontinence are reviewed to see if and how these investigations supplement a careful clinical evaluation, and in particular to see if they help in the practical management of the problem. Five years of experience gained with the CryoCare Extremity Stabilization System (CESS) were evaluated in this study. Twenty-one patients underwent freezing amputation. Five patients died before undergoing surgical amputation. The MRT findings in 40 patients with the tethered cord syndrome (TCS) have been compared with the operative findings. A study of 71 patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome was performed to evaluate the effectiveness, complications, and late sequelae of uvulopalatopharyngoplasty. Postoperative immediate complications were of minor importance. In 96% of the patients, the snoring was improved; it was completely resolved in 48%. The article presents an experience with the work of a city phlebologic center, confirming the importance of active introduction of modern surgical methods of prevention of embolism of the pulmonary artery in the program of aid to patients with acute embologenic iliofemoral phlebothromboses. Use of the methods of endo- and exovenous cava filtration and cavaplication allowed lethality in this group of patients to be reduced from 15-20% to 1%.

We evaluated 2401 patients with suspected streptococcal pharyngitis with the Culturette 10-minute Group A Strep ID test during a 6-month period in order to determine its suitability for rapid diagnosis in a busy private office practice.
