Retrograde ejaculation was diagnosed in a 32-year-old man. This condition is an uncommon cause of male infertility. In most cases the only possible treatment is recovery of spermatozoa from the urine followed by artificial insemination; the couple underwent this treatment; the women received intrauterine insemination. In order to ensure the best possible survival of the sperm cells the pH (7.2-8.2) and the osmolality (300-380 mosmol/kg) of the urine were adjusted beforehand by administering bicarbonate and water to the man a few hours before ejaculation. PURPOSE: An anonymous survey of IVF centers in the United States was employed to calculate frequencies of multiple gestation, monozygotic multiple gestation, and monoamniotic multiple gestation. Rates for zona-manipulated (ICSI, SUZI, zona drilling, mechanical assisted hatching) and non-manipulated pregnancies were compared.

Sperm cytogenetic study in two patients with Klinefelter's syndrome have demonstrated that there existed a risk low but highly significant, to transmit a sex chromosome abnormality to the offsprings. This result argues for a systematic karyotype before ICSI, and if such mosaïcs can be treated by ICSI, they must be firstly associated to a genetic counselling.

OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to evaluate the recovery rate of spermatozoa from the epididymis using a percutaneous aspiration technique and to assess the fertilisation rate after intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fifty-four patients with azoospermia had a total of 59 cycles at IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The cause of the azoospermia was failed vasectomy reversal in 23 cases, congenital absence of the vas in 22 cases, partial testicular failure in 5 cases, and retrograde ejaculation in 2 cases, while the remaining 2 patients had erectile disorders.

From January 1987 to December 1990, 1,415 patients were enrolled for in vitro fertilisation (IVF), series 26-41, at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine. They underwent 2,393 IVF cycles. The most common indications were tubal factor (57.3%), male infertility (22.0%), endometriosis (10.9%), and idiopathic infertility (5.2%). An analysis in November 1991 showed a successful cryopreservation programme between May 1989 and October 1991 in Singapore General Hospital. Eighty-two patients had 100 cycles of oocyte donation from 68 donors resulting in 27 clinical pregnancies.
