BACKGROUND: The impact of comprehensive care on utilization of healthcare services by children with sickle cell disease (SCD) has not been fully evaluated. This article describes the perceptions of adolescents and young adults aged 14 to 25 years who live in Québec (Canada) and obtained health services via teleconsultation for the first time, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to quantify the economic impact of missed billing opportunities for tobacco cessation counseling at an academic medical center to identify what may be a systematic defect in the administration of tobacco cessation services and to highlight opportunities to improve patient outcomes and revenue.
