Efficacy of personalized yoga rehabilitation on quality of life in survivors of extensive burns: A pilot matched case-control study.

BACKGROUND: Extensive burn survivors often face severe joint dysfunction, hypertrophic scarring, and psychological trauma, which seriously compromise their quality of life. This pilot study evaluated outcomes associated with adding a personalized, phased yoga rehabilitation program to standard rehabilitation care. METHODS: This study enrolled survivors of extensive burns (TBSA ≥ 50%) who received rehabilitation at our institution between January 2022 and June 2025. Participants were categorized into a "Yoga Group" or a "Standard Care Group" based on whether they received yoga rehabilitation.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Vascular Surgery Trainees in the United States.

BACKGROUND: The impact of the coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic on health care workers has been substantial. However, the impact on vascular surgery (VS) trainees has not yet been determined. [Relationship of οccupational stress parameters with burn-out and perceived stress].

One of the major problems concerning mental healthcare professionals is burn-out as a set of symptoms associated with chronic stress that encompasses three dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. Research has indicated that asylums are stressful environments where nurses are vulnerable to burn-out and occupational stress. There is a tendency for research studies to investigate causes of stress and ways of coping, but few studies, particularly in recent years, have considered burn-out and occupational stress among care staff at Greek asylum. Assessing Quality of Life and Symptoms in Transplantation and CAR-T Recipients: Expert Panel Recommendations from the Survivorship Special Interest Group of ASTCT.

Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) to measure quality of life (QOL) and other symptoms play an increasingly important role in clinical trials and regulatory approvals for hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. However, their adoption has been hindered by wide heterogeneity in the choice of PRO measures for clinical research, including the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy Bone Marrow Transplantation (FACT-BMT) and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Core Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30) inventor

Efficacy of an Internet-based intervention with self-applied exposure therapy in virtual reality for people with panic disorder: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Due to several treatment barriers, many individuals with panic disorder do not receive evidence-based treatment. One promising option to narrow this treatment gap is Internet-based psychotherapy, which has been shown particularly effective in guided formats. Still, there remains room for improvement to make these digital therapies more accessible, cost-efficient, and aligned with best practices for in-person interventions (e.g., exposure). The smartphone app "Invirto - Treatment for Anxiety" offers digitally guided, evidence-based treatment of panic disorders including virtual real

Burnout among dental professionals in Pakistan: a post-COVID mixed-methods study of prevalence, predictors, and challenges.

INTRODUCTION: Burnout among dental professionals is a significant mental health concern that affects learning, teaching, and patient care. The COVID-19 pandemic amplified existing stressors, yet little is known about how dental graduates, trainees, and faculty have adapted in the post-pandemic period, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. This study assessed the prevalence and predictors of burnout among dental professionals and explored their perceptions of post-COVID challenges and coping strategies. METHODS: A mixed-methods study was conducted at the Sindh Institute of Oral Hea

Investigating the effectiveness of structured mindfulness sessions in mitigating burnout among final-year dental students: A mixed-methods analysis.

BACKGROUND: The transition from dental student to practicing dentist is often accompanied by high level of stress and risk of burnout. This shift from academic to professional roles can overwhelm students and compromise their well-being. Addressing burnout early is essential to maintain academic performance, resilience, and quality patient care. Mindfulness interventions have shown increasing empirical support in reducing stress and burnout. This mixed-methods study evaluated the effectiveness of mindfulness-based life skill-building sessions in alleviating burnout among final-year dental stud

Multisensory mental imagery of fatigue in patients with multiple Sclerosis. Preliminary evidence from a fMRI study.

Fatigue, defined as a subjective lack of physical and/or mental energy, is a clinical symptom highly characterizing multiple sclerosis (MS). The present study utilized a novel approach to the study of fatigue, examining first person-mental imagery of the symptom. Eighteen right-handed patients with MS (14F, 4 M, mean age 45.8 ± 8.15 years) were evaluated and were compared to nineteen healthy controls (10F, 9 M, mean age 43.15 ± 8.34 years) Patients were all in relapsing remitting form and no patient had presented relapses in the 6 months prior to inclusion in the study. We evaluated their beha

Characterizing depression after traumatic brain injury using a symptom-oriented approach.

BACKGROUND: Progress in addressing depression after traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been limited. Traditional approaches to measuring depression classify individuals with diverse symptoms as having the same problem. We adopted a novel, symptom-oriented approach to characterize post-TBI depression, emphasizing specific symptoms rather than the number of symptoms. METHODS: We assessed depressive symptoms cross-sectionally in 393 participants with moderate-severe TBI (range 0.4-35.4 years post-injury; M = 12.6) using the Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms - Expanded Version (IDAS-II).

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although several approaches have been developed to provide comprehensive care for persons living with dementia (PWD) and their family or friend caregivers, the relative effectiveness and cost effectiveness of community-based dementia care (CBDC) versus health system-based dementia care (CBDC) and the effectiveness of both approaches compared with usual care (UC) are unknown. DESIGN: Pragmatic randomized three-arm superiority trial. The unit of randomization is the PWD/caregiver dyad. SETTING: Four clinical trial sites (CTSs) based in academic and clinical health system

Problematic versus non-problematic ecstasy/MDMA use: the influence of drug usage patterns and pre-existing psychiatric factors.

Recreational ecstasy (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine; MDMA) use has been increasingly associated with a number of psychiatric symptoms and psychological problems. However, previous studies assessing possible psychopathological effects have not identified whether users consider their ecstasy use "problematic" or not. In addition, research has generally failed to address the potential role of premorbid psychiatric status. This study aimed to assess whether premorbid psychiatric history and/or patterns of ecstasy use would be associated with the degree of self-reported problems attributable to

BACKGROUND: Patients undergoing total pharyngo-laryngectomy with anterolateral thigh (ALT) free-flap neopharyngeal reconstruction require prolonged voice rehabilitation, yet whether preoperative psychological characteristics predict postoperative voice and quality-of-life (QoL) outcomes in this surgical population has not been examined. We aimed to characterize changes in voice and QoL after this surgery and to explore associations between baseline psychological characteristics and depressive somatic symptoms and these postoperative outcomes. Factors influencing the duration of hospitalization of patients with schizophrenia.

INTRODUCTION: Severe mental disorders represent an important and large proportion of healthcare resource utilization and are associated with increased hospitalization rates and costs. Given the high percentage of total hospital days and costs associated with caring for people with psychotic disorders, a better understanding of the factors that determine the duration of hospitalization of patients with such disorders is imperative. PURPOSE: The aim of the present study was to investigate socio-demographic, clinical and psychosocial characteristics of patients with schizophrenia, admitted to a
