Patient-reported outcomes and experience measures in the Community Pharmacy setting: Theoretical and practical framework regarding the PROMs and PREMs.

Healthcare systems are evolving toward person-centered and value-driven models, in which the patient's perspective plays a key role. Thus, patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and experience (PRE) are key elements for evaluating the impact of healthcare interventions from the patient's own perspective. Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) are standardized and validated questionnaires designed to measure these variables, which could complement conventional clinical outcomes. This document describes the theoretical foundations of PROM and PREM an

Exploring the treatment process correlates of the Spectra: Indices of Psychopathology's Psychosocial Functioning scale in a clinical sample.

Assessing adaptive psychosocial functioning is vital in psychological evaluation and treatment. The Psychosocial Functioning (PF) scale from the Spectra: Indices of Psychopathology captures key areas such as well-being, agency, social support, and access to basic needs. While initial research supports its use, its role in guiding complex treatment decisions remains underexplored. This study examined associations between the PF scale and treatment indicators from the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) in a mixed sample (N = 89) of psychiatric inpatients and outpatients. Findings revealed me

[Digital competencies of health professionals: German translation and content validation of DigiHealthCom and DigiComInf].

Digital competencies of health professionals: German translation and content validation of DigiHealthCom and DigiComInf Abstract: Background: Digitalisation in the healthcare sector places new demands on the skills of healthcare professionals. In German-speaking countries, comprehensive instruments that consider both, individual competencies and organisational aspects, are lacking. The English-language instruments DigiHealthCom (5 Factors, 42 Items) and DigiComInf (3 Factors, 15 Items) measure these dimensions; however, they are not available in German. Aim: Culturally sensitive translation an

Improving the measurement of knowledge in multiple-choice tests: A hierarchical multinomial processing tree approach.

In multiple-choice (MC) tests, correct item responses can stem from actual mastery as well as from lucky guessing. Several approaches have been developed to address this problem, including the implementation of a "Don't know" option. However, scoring such MC tests is challenging, as traditional scoring techniques are differentially biased against certain response strategies. In this article, we propose a hierarchical multinomial processing tree (MPT) model that allows measuring the latent ability while taking into account the tendency to engage in guessing and the preference for a specific res

Demographic and environmental predictors of self-determination in Turkish students with and without disabilities: A classical and machine learning-based analysis.

BACKGROUND: The substantial variability in educational opportunities across individual and environmental conditions in Türkiye provides a meaningful context for examining associations between self-determination and contextual factors. However, the absence of culturally adapted student-report measures continues to constrain empirical analyses of these relationships. AIM: This study (1) adapted and validated the Turkish version of the AIR Self-Determination Scale-Student Form and (2) identified contextual predictors of self-determination using both classical statistical analyses and machine lea

Severe PTSD or just PTSD?

Although the widespread of trauma exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) remains a prevalent and disabling mental disorder. Yet, access to appropriate care, particularly for individuals with more severe forms, remains limited. The expression 'severe PTSD' is widely used in clinical practice, yet no shared or psychometrically grounded definition has been established. Unlike other psychiatric disorders such as depression, validated instruments are still lacking to reliably determine the degree of severity of PTSD. Furthermore, relying solely on symptom scores may obscure key differences

Evaluating the use of prior information to individualise start item selection for the EORTC CAT core.

PURPOSE: Computerized adaptive tests (CATs) provide individualised measurement, using score estimates based on the patient’s prior responses to select the next most informative item. However, as no score estimate is available at the outset, the start item is typically not individualised. The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) CAT Core covers 15 health-related quality of life (HRQoL) domains. We explored whether scores from one domain could be used to obtain initial score estimates and hence, individualised start items for another domain, thereby improving measur

Extending Validity Evidence for the MMPI-3: The Role of Collateral Report in Adult Assessment.

Integration of multiple data sources is central to evidence-based clinical psychological assessment. In adult assessments (in contrast to youth), data are typically obtained solely from clients; however, extant research suggests collateral ratings provide valuable additional information across the lifespan. The current study examined criterion-related and incremental validity of collateral-report via the ASEBA Adult Behavior Checklist (ABCL) in association with MMPI-3 Restructured Clinical and select Specific Problems Scales. We expected 1) modest correspondence between MMPI-3 scales and corre

Reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the test of childhood stuttering (TOCS).

PROPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Test of Childhood Stuttering (TOCS). METHODS & PROCEDURE: The TOCS was translated into Turkish, then back into English by a linguist, and reviewed by an evaluation committee. The translated version was administered to 50 children who stutter (CWS) and 50 who do not (CWNS). After 7-10 days, 12 randomly selected children were re-evaluated. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, test-retest methods, and inter-rater reliability. Content validity was confirmed through a pilot study and expert

Construct validity of the Child Abuse Potential Inventory: A meta-analytic review.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The Child Abuse Potential (CAP) Inventory is a commonly used tool for assessing child physical abuse (CPA) risk. Although there are qualitative summaries of the CAP Inventory construct validity, to date there have not been any comprehensive quantitative summaries of the CAP Inventory construct validity. The present study was conducted to provide a meta-analytic review of studies examining the construct validity (i.e., nomological convergent validity) of the CAP Inventory abuse scale. PARTICIPANTS/METHODS: Literature searches yielded 1437 unduplicated studies for review.

Subjective Happiness Scale: Measurement properties of the online and paper-pen administrations in Nepali adults with musculoskeletal pain.

BACKGROUND: Happiness is a positive psychological construct often described as subjective well-being. It is associated with a meaningful life, and better social support and coping with stress or trauma. Happiness may have a role in buffering the negative effects of musculoskeletal pain on quality of life. Validating measures that assess subjective happiness in individuals with musculoskeletal pain can help advance research and patient care in this emerging field. OBJECTIVE: We sought to: (1) evaluate the measurement properties of the Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS) in a sample of Nepali adul

Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Dynamic Gait Index in Dyslexic Children.

This study investigated the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Dynamic Gait Index (DGI) in dyslexic children. Sixty children aged 8-14 years were included. The original English DGI was translated into Turkish and cross-culturally adapted following standard guidelines. To evaluate its measurement properties, two independent raters assessed all children in a single session, and one of them repeated the evaluation after 7 days. Internal consistency was determined via Cronbach's alpha, while intra- and inter-rater reliability were assessed using Intraclass Correlation Coefficien

Development of the 12-Item Facial Complaints Evaluation Scale (FaCES-12).

OBJECTIVES: Chronic rhinosinusitis and related rhinologic disorders are common in routine otolaryngologic practice. Common presenting symptoms include nasal obstruction, facial pain, facial pressure, headache, and a subjective feeling of the face feeling "swollen," a perceptual distortion. No validated scale exists to assess facial pain in addition to perceptual distortion or headache. The objective was to develop a novel scale for assessment of facial symptoms experienced by patients presenting for rhinologic evaluation. METHODS: This was a prospective validation cross-sectional study. A pat

The Clinical Assessment of Prosocial Emotions (CAPE): Initial tests of reliability and validity in a clinic-referred sample of children and adolescents.

Recent changes to diagnostic criteria for serious conduct problems in children and adolescents have included the presence of elevated callous-unemotional traits to define etiologically and clinically important subgroups of youth with a conduct problem diagnosis. The Clinical Assessment of Prosocial Emotions (CAPE) is an intensive assessment of the symptoms of this limited prosocial emotions specifier that uses a structured professional judgment method of scoring, which may make it useful in clinical settings when diagnoses may require more information than that provided by behavior rating scal

Measuring susceptibility to use tobacco in an increasingly complex consumer marketplace: How many questions do we really need?

OBJECTIVE: Predicting which young people are likely to use tobacco in the future is critical for prevention and intervention. Although measures for assessing susceptibility to using tobacco have fulfilled this goal for decades, there is almost no standard for the number of items that should be administered, or which items should be administered for which products. This study explored whether brief but psychometrically sound versions of commonly used susceptibility measures can adequately capture the construct relative to longer measures. METHOD: A sample of young people (N = 451; Mage = 16.5

Development and initial validation of the Scale of Scales (SOS) overreporting scores for the MMPI family of instruments.

Overreporting is a common problem that complicates psychological evaluations. A challenge facing the effective detection of overreporting is that many of the identified strategies (e.g., symptom severity approaches; see Rogers & Bender, 2020) are not incorporated into broadband measures of personality and psychopathology (e.g., Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory family of instruments). While recent efforts have worked to incorporate some of these newer strategies, no such work has been conducted on the MMPI-3. For instance, recent symptom severity approaches have been used to identify

Associations between respiratory function, balance, postural control, and fatigue in persons with multiple sclerosis: an observational study.

INTRODUCTION: Fatigue, postural control impairments, and reduced respiratory capacities are common symptoms in persons diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). However, there is a paucity of evidence establishing correlations among these factors. The aim of this study is to analyze respiratory function in persons with MS compared to the control group as well as to analyze the relationship between fatigue, respiratory function and postural control in persons with MS. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 17 persons with MS and 17 healthy individuals were enrolled for this cross-sectional study. The
