BACKGROUND: Standard endoscopic treatment might fail to treat biliary stone disease. Here, we investigated the efficacy and safety of recently introduced digital single-operator video cholangioscopy (SOVC) for the treatment of difficult biliary stones.

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to prospectively investigate the long-term effects of gallbladder-preserving cholecystolithotomy in a selected population of Chinese patients.
METHODS: Between January 2007 and December 2016, all gallstone patients who met the criteria for gallbladder-preserving cholecystolithotomy in our hospital were included in the study and followed prospectively. The primary endpoint was the time of recurrence of cholecystolithiasis, and the secondary endpoint was the end of the study. The data were collected in half-year intervals.

Biliary brushing cytology has become the standard of practice for the investigation of strictures of the biliary and pancreatic duct systems. The methodology however has a limitation in that it has low diagnostic sensitivity when only cytologic evaluation is used. We sought to estimate the effect of smoking on the biliary complication rate following orthotopic liver transplantation. We retrospectively evaluated the records of liver transplant recipients at our center from July 1, 1999 to October 26, 2007.
