Outbreak of neonatal Klebsiella septicaemia: a review of antimicrobial sensitivities.

A 10-week prospective study was undertaken to document the antibiotic susceptibilities of klebsiella organisms which were responsible for an outbreak of septicaemia on the neonatal units of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. The thirty-nine isolates obtained comprised K. pneumoniae, 18 (46.2%), K. aerogenes, 17 (43.6%), K. edwardsii, 3 (7.7%), and K. oxytoca, 1(2.5%). All the strains were sensitive to ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin, but resistant to ampicillin. The percentage of qualitative sensitivities of the klebsiella species to other available drugs were 41% for ceftazidime, 3

Double versus single emergency cervical cerclage combined with vaginal progesterone: a multicenter, nonblinded, randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Emergency cervical cerclage is used to reduce extreme preterm birth in women with advanced cervical dilatation and exposed fetal membranes. Although double-level cerclage has been proposed to provide greater mechanical support than single-level cerclage, evidence comparing these techniques in emergency settings is limited. OBJECTIVE: To compare the effectiveness of emergency double-level versus single-level cerclage, both combined with adjunctive vaginal progesterone, antibiotics and indomethacin in preventing delivery before 34 weeks of gestation. STUDY DESIGN: This prospective,

Clinical and microbiological characteristics of pediatric Pandoraea sputorum bloodstream isolates with exploratory genomic analysis of two selected strains.

BACKGROUND: Pandoraea sputorum (P. sputorum) is an uncommon opportunistic pathogen whose genomic and antimicrobial resistance features in pediatric bloodstream infection remain poorly understood. An unusual beta-lactam discordance (meropenem resistance with imipenem susceptibility) was recognized clinically but lacks a defined genomic basis. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 34 non-duplicate P. sputorum isolates from pediatric blood cultures at a single center from January 2024 to February 2026. Clinical data and antimicrobial susceptibility were reviewed. Two multidrug-resistant (MDR) P.
