Efficacy of Premedication With Ketorolac on Anaesthetic Success of Mental-Incisive Nerve Blocks With Symptomatic Irreversible Pulpitis: A Randomised Clinical Trial.

This trial aimed to compare the success of mental-incisive nerve blocks (MINB) on mandibular premolars with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis (SIP) after oral premedication using 10 mg ketorolac or a placebo. One hundred and two patients were randomly divided into two groups. One hour prior to the administration of a MINB the patients were administered oral premedication's of either ketorolac or dextrose (placebo). The success of anaesthesia was verified by the absence of pain during the access cavity preparation or root canal instrumentation. Descriptive analysis was performed and categorical

Determination of Surface Characteristics, Solubility and Ion Release of a Calcium Silicate Root Canal Sealer.

This study investigated the solubility of AH Plus Bioceramic sealer (AHPB), the ion release, and the modification of surface characteristics compared to AH Plus (AHP). Solubility was examined according to ISO guidelines in deionised water and phosphate buffer saline (PBS) for 3 months. Surface characteristics and elemental analysis were conducted with scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, while ion release was determined with ICP-OES. In PBS, solubility values were significantly lower than those recorded in deionised water for both materials (p < 0.05). Upon th

Management of maxillary permanent central incisors with combined injuries sustaining a second dental trauma: A case report with 8-year follow-up.

Root fractures often occur in immature maxillary permanent central incisors and can be combined with other injuries, making treating more difficult and prognosis uncertain. A 10-year-old girl sustaining a second dental trauma came to our hospital. Teeth 11 and 21 experienced root fracture following the first injury 15 months earlier. The second injury resulted in lateral luxation of the coronal fragment of Tooth 11 from the original fracture site and subluxation of Tooth 21. Tooth 11 was repositioned, and both Teeth 11 and 21 were splinted for 3 months. An apical plug was applied to Tooth 21 a

Healing and Skeletal Development Outcomes of a Complex Case Involving Complicated Crown-Root Fracture and Luxation Injuries With a 4-Year Follow-Up.

The management of complicated crown-root fractures of immature permanent teeth requires a multidisciplinary approach to address biological, functional, and aesthetic concerns. A 10-year-old boy suffered a complicated crown-root fracture of tooth 11, an uncomplicated crown fracture, subluxation and pulp necrosis of tooth 21 and subluxation of tooth 22 after falling from a bicycle. The treatment for tooth 11 involved maintaining pulp vitality with partial pulpotomy and re-attachment of the crown-root fragment after modified crown-lengthening surgery. Treatment for tooth 21 included a flexible sp

Influence of Operator's Experience on Mechanical Properties of Nickel-Titanium Instruments After Usage.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of the operator's experience level on the cyclic fatigue and torsional resistance of OneCurve (OC) and OneRECI (OR) instruments. Four inexperienced clinicians and four endodontists shaped endo-training blocks. Instruments were then subjected to cyclic fatigue and torsional tests under body temperature (37°C) condition (n = 10). The results were analysed using two-way ANOVA test and Tukey HSD post hoc comparison at a significance level of 95%. OR used by inexperienced operators had a longer time to fracture compared to other groups (p < 0.05). Used OC

Accurately Defining the Location and Dimension of the Bony Lid Under the Guidance of Dynamic Navigation: Report on Three Cases.

The bony lid technique can be a highly valuable procedure when facing surgical challenges, such as the presence of a thick, intact cortical plate, associated with large periapical lesions in posterior teeth. The critical task of accurately defining the location and dimension of the bony lid is a clinical concern that demands careful consideration. This case report, through three cases, illustrates the application of dynamic navigation in guiding the determination of point positions and osteotomy angles on the buccal bone plate. Postoperative complications were not observed during the examinati

Resolvin E1 Promotes the Resolution of Dental Pulp Inflammation and Induces Autophagy.

Although the inflammation-resolving properties of Resolvin E1 have been characterised, its effect on autophagy during pulpitis resolution remains unclear. We established a rat pulpitis model to investigate the changes in autophagy during Resolvin E1-mediated pulpitis resolution. Histological staining and gene quantification were performed to assess pulp tissue injury and changes in inflammation- and autophagy-related gene expression. In vivo, Resolvin E1 promoted dental tissue repair and reduced the expression of tumour necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, and CD68 in dental pulp tissues. Resolv

Pulse Oximeter as a Diagnostic Tool for Assessing Pulpal Pathology: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis.

Pulse oximetry offers a more objective approach than traditional pulp sensibility tests, which can produce unreliable results-particularly in inflamed or traumatised teeth. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of English-language analytical cross-sectional studies (2012-2024) assessing pulp oxygen saturation (%SpO2) via pulse oximetry in mature permanent teeth with symptomatic pulpitis. Three reviewers independently screened and extracted data, and study quality was appraised using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) checklist. Meta-analysis compared %SpO2 levels between healthy pu

Transcriptomic Biomarkers Associated With Pulpitis: A Systematic Review and Functional Meta-Synthesis of Bioinformatic Studies in Human Pulp Tissue.

Pulpitis, a common inflammatory dental condition, lacks reliable non-invasive diagnostic methods. This study reviewed transcriptomic analyses of human pulp tissue to identify diagnostic biomarkers for pulpitis. Seven studies were included, revealing key biomarkers such as IL6, CXCL8, MMP9, NLRP3, and METTL3. Five studies validated their findings experimentally (RT-qPCR), while two relied on in silico validation. Functional meta-analysis demonstrated significant enrichment in inflammation-related pathways, including cytokine signaling, neutrophil chemotaxis, and NF-κB activation. Protein-protei

Factors influencing the outcome of nonsurgical root canal treatment and retreatment: A retrospective study.

This study assessed the influence of diverse variables on the outcome of nonsurgical root canal treatment/retreatment. In general, 304 teeth from 218 patients were treated/retreated and the outcome evaluated by the periapical index (PAI). Teeth with apical periodontitis lesions that have not completely healed were classified as success or failure based on lenient and rigid criteria, respectively. Findings were evaluated using a logistic regression analysis. The overall success rates were 74% and 82% using the PAI-rigid and lenient success criteria, respectively. Specifically for treatment, the

Guided tooth autotransplantation of a palatally impacted maxillary canine into the site of a failed maxillary canine implant.

The aim of this report is to demonstrate the guided tooth autotransplantation of a palatally impacted maxillary canine into the site of a failed maxillary canine dental implant. A 47-year-old woman visited a dental clinic complaining of loose dental implant in the left maxillary canine site, tooth #11, as well as pain and swelling of the gum around the implant. The clinical examination revealed a mobile implant along with swollen soft tissues with bleeding on probing. A periapical radiograph demonstrated peri-implant marginal bone loss. Cone beam computed tomography sections revealed that toot

Autotransplantation of immature second premolar combined with alveolar ridge splitting: A long-term (6-year) follow-up case report.

This case report describes a successful autotransplantation procedure for an impacted mandibular left second premolar with incomplete root formation. Despite caries and root resorption, the patient's mandibular left second primary molar was retained. Furthermore, the severe impaction of the mandibular left second premolar ruled out orthodontic realignment. Due to the young age of the patient, dental implantation was not feasible, leading to the selection of autotransplantation as the preferred method for replacing the retained primary molar. To address the insufficient buccolingual width of th

Unusual approach to treat malocclusion with traumatically missing and hopeless maxillary unilateral incisors: A case report.

Orthodontic cases requiring tooth extraction sometimes involve post-traumatic incisors. For adolescent cases in which trauma causes the maxillary unilateral incisors to be missing or have poor prognoses, it is worth considering these teeth as candidates for extraction, and this unusual approach is seldom reported in the literature. An adolescent patient with a missing maxillary left lateral incisor and an ankylosed maxillary left central incisor sought treatment for dental protrusion and crowding. An unusual orthodontic approach was used, which involved the extraction of the maxillary left cen

Presence of methanogenic archaea in necrotic root canals of patients with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Theoretically, a necrotic root canal fulfils all requirements as a niche for methanogens to inhabit. However, their presence in it and its implication in apical periodontitis (AP) is controversial. Therefore, to contribute to ending the controversy, this study aimed to detect and compare methanogens' presence in two distinct niches with supposedly different microenvironments; both were necrotic root canals associated with AP but one from patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) while the other from non-diabetic patients. A clinical examination was performed on 65 T2DM patients and 73 non-
