Outpatient antibiotic use attributable to viral acute lower respiratory tract infections during the cold season in France, 2010-2017.

Antibiotic stewardship requires clear insight into antibiotic overuse and the syndromes that lead to prescription. The aim of this study was to estimate the proportion of antibiotic prescriptions attributable to acute lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) during the cold season. Using individual data from the French National Health Insurance (NHI) database, weekly time series were constructed of outpatient antibiotic (beta-lactams and macrolides) prescriptions between January 2010 and December 2017. Time series were also constructed of tenth edition of the International Classification of

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome patient is associated with subsequent increased risks of outpatient visits and hospitalizations: A population-based study.

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is not only a chronic urinary bladder pain syndrome but is also associated with multifactorial etiology. Our study aimed to test the hypothesis that IC/BPS is associated with subsequent increased risks of outpatient visits and hospitalizations. Using nationwide database, the diagnoses were based on the International Classification Codes (ICD-9-CM) (595.1) of at least three outpatient services during 2002-2008, (n = 27,990) and cystoscopic finding Hunner type and/or glomerulation with pre-audit criteria. Use of the PROMIS-10 global health in patients with chronic low back pain in outpatient physical therapy: a retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Although evidence-based guidelines for physical therapy for patients with chronic low back pain (cLBP) are available, selecting patient-reported outcome measures to capture complexity of health status and quality of life remains a challenge. PROMIS-10 Global Health (GH) may be used to screen for impactful health risks and enable patient-centered care. The purpose of this study was to investigate the interrelationships between PROMIS-10 GH scores and patient demographics, health status, and healthcare utilization in patients with cLBP who received physical therapy. METHODS: A retro

METHOD: A population-based cohort of physician-diagnosed patients with SSc in Olmsted County, MN, USA, from 1 January 1988 to 31 December 2016 was assembled. A 2:1 cohort of age- and gender-matched non-SSc subjects was randomly selected for comparison. Patients were followed until death, migration from Olmsted County, or 31 December 2017. Instruments to measure outcomes of post-intensive care syndrome in outpatient care settings - Results of an expert consensus and feasibility field test.

BACKGROUND: There is no consensus on the instruments for diagnosis of post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). We present a proposal for a set of outcome measurement instruments of PICS in outpatient care. METHODS: We conducted a three-round, semi-structured consensus-seeking process with medical experts, followed each by exploratory feasibility investigations with intensive care unit survivors (n1 = 5; n2 = 5; n3 = 7). Fourteen participants from nine stakeholder groups participated in the first and second consensus meeting. In the third consensus meeting, a core group of six clinical researchers

Modeling Patient No-Show History and Predicting Future Appointment Behavior at the Veterans Administration's Outpatient Mental Health Clinics: NIRMO-2.

INTRODUCTION: No-shows are detrimental to both patients' health and health care systems. Literature documents no-show rates ranging from 10% in primary care clinics to over 60% in mental health clinics. Our model predicts the probability that a mental health clinic outpatient appointment will not be completed and identifies actionable variables associated with lowering the probability of no-show. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We were granted access to de-identified administrative data from the Veterans Administration Corporate Data Warehouse related to appointments at 13 Veterans Administration Medi
