We reported the preliminary outcomes of CT-guided percutaneous injection therapy for aldosterone-producing adrenocortical adenoma (APA). Five sessions of injection therapy, 4 percutaneous acetic acid injections (PAI) and 1 percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) were performed in 3 patients with APA. Thirty ampicillin-resistant enterococci were isolated from clinical specimens at our institution, 28 of these over a six month period. All were identified as Enterococcus faecium with an MIC(90) to ampicillin ond penicillin of 32 and 128 mug/ml, respectively. Sixteen patients with clinical features of postoperative gastritis who had been advised to have a Roux-en-Y diversion were studied prospectively. Studies were done pre- and postoperatively (mean follow-up, 4.9 years; range, 3.8 to 6.9), and the findings were compared with those in 11 control subjects with previous enterogastric anastomosis but with no symptoms. Male rats were fed a riboflavin-deficient diet for 25 days and then fed [2-14C]riboflavin to replete their riboflavin pool(s). UNLABELLED: Carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase deficiency is a rare and life-threatening mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation disorder. We describe a patient who, despite a severe clinical course and an extremely low carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase activity, is currently alive and in good health.
