Integrating yoga as a holistic intervention in male infertility management: improved sperm parameters and stress reduction: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Male infertility, particularly severe oligozoospermia, presents a significant challenge in reproductive health, often associated with high oxidative stress and poor lifestyle practices. This case report highlights the potential therapeutic role of a structured yoga regimen in improving semen quality, reducing stress, and enhancing quality of life in a male with long-standing infertility. The novelty lies in documenting comprehensive improvements across semen parameters and psychological well-being following a nonpharmacological intervention. CASE PRESENTATION: A 30-year-old Indian

Cost-effectiveness of integrative oncology for sustainable and patient-centred cancer care: a systematic review in the context of the WHO global traditional medicine strategy 2025-2034.

INTRODUCTION: The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently released the Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025-2034, calling for strengthened evidence, governance, and integration of safe, effective traditional and complementary practices into national health systems. In oncology, integrative oncology (IO) combines evidence-informed complementary and traditional modalities with standard cancer care to improve symptom control, quality of life, and patient-centred outcomes. Although clinical benefits are increasingly recognised, comprehensive economic evidence remains limited, constraining re

'Poverty is the biggest barrier': stakeholder perspectives on social determinants of malaria in Wakiso District, Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Despite significant resources invested in malaria control interventions for several years, the disease remains a persistent health challenge impacting millions of people especially children and pregnant women in the lower income regions of the world. Progress towards eliminating malaria has stagnated, in part due to the limited consideration of the social determinants of the disease such as poverty. We conducted a qualitative study exploring stakeholder perspectives on social determinants of malaria including lived experiences with the disease in Wakiso, one of the districts with h

Psychological and social impact of announcing cancer diagnosis in a Moroccan university hospital oncology unit: a cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: The manner in which a cancer diagnosis is communicated is closely associated with patients' adherence to treatment, quality of life, risk of complications, and prognosis. In Morocco, however, systemic and cultural barriers persist, rendering the process of disclosing a cancer diagnosis fragmented and emotionally challenging for many patients. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 100 cancer patients receiving treatment at Ibn Rochd University Hospital between October 2023 and January 2024. Participants completed a socio-demographic and medical history questionna

Developmental Dyslexia: Disorder or Specialization in Exploration?

We raise the new possibility that people diagnosed with developmental dyslexia (DD) are specialized in explorative cognitive search, and rather than having a neurocognitive disorder, play an essential role in human adaptation. Most DD research has studied educational difficulties, with theories framing differences in neurocognitive processes as deficits. However, people with DD are also often proposed to have certain strengths - particularly in realms like discovery, invention, and creativity - that deficit-centered theories cannot explain. We investigate whether these strengths reflect an und

Patient-reported outcomes in a Chinese cohort of osteogenesis imperfecta unveil psycho-physical stratifications associated with clinical manifestations.

BACKGROUND: Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a rare congenital disorder of the skeletal system, inflicting debilitating physical and psychological distress on patients and caregivers. Over the decades, much effort has been channeled towards understanding molecular mechanisms and developing new treatments. It has recently become more apparent that patient-reported outcome measurements (PROM) during treatment, healing and rehabilitation are helpful in facilitating smoother communication, refining intervention strategies and achieving higher quality of life. To date, systematic analyses of PROM in

Determining the psychometric properties of a novel questionnaire to measure "preparedness for the future" (Prep FQ).

BACKGROUND: People are living longer than ever before. However, with living longer comes increased problems that negatively impact on quality of life and the quality of death. Tools are needed to help individuals assess whether they are practicing the best attitudes and behaviors that are associated with a future long life, high quality of life, high quality of death and a satisfying post-death legacy. The purpose of paper is to describe the process we used to develop a novel questionnaire ("Preparedness for the Future Questionnaire™ or Prep FQ") and to define its psychometric properties. MET

Living With, and Caring for, Congenital Heart Disease in Australia: Insights From the Congenital Heart Alliance of Australia and New Zealand Online Survey.

BACKGROUND: There is a paucity of data describing the day-to-day experiences of adult Australians personally living with or caring for a child born with congenital heart disease (CHD). Such data would be of great practical importance to inform health care initiatives to improve outcomes. METHODS: 588 men (38.3 ± 11.9 years) and women (39.6 ± 12.6 years, 78% of respondent patients) living with CHD and 1,091 adult carers (93% mothers) of children with CHD (median age 7.3 [IQR 3.5-13.3 years], 54% male), representing all Australian states and territories, responded to a comprehensive online surv

'High' risk? A systematic review of the acute outcomes of mixing alcohol with energy drinks.

AIMS: Alcohol mixed with energy drinks (AmED) is a relatively new consumption trend generating increasing concern regarding potential adverse effects. Despite the political and health imperative, there has been no systematic and independent synthesis of the literature to determine whether or not AmED offers additional harms relative to alcohol. The aim of this study was to review the evidence about whether co-consumption of energy drinks and alcohol, relative to alcohol alone, alters: (i) physiological, psychological, cognitive and psychomotor outcomes; (ii) hazardous drinking practices; and (

Annual research review: Harms experienced by child users of online and mobile technologies: the nature, prevalence and management of sexual and aggressive risks in the digital age.

AIMS AND SCOPE: The usage of mobile phones and the internet by young people has increased rapidly in the past decade, approaching saturation by middle childhood in developed countries. Besides many benefits, online content, contact or conduct can be associated with risk of harm; most research has examined whether aggressive or sexual harms result from this. We examine the nature and prevalence of such risks, and evaluate the evidence regarding the factors that increase or protect against harm resulting from such risks, so as to inform the academic and practitioner knowledge base. We also ident

Noise and hearing protection: Latino construction workers' experiences.

This study explored Latino construction workers' experiences with occupational noise and hearing protection to provide qualitative data to be used in designing an intervention to prevent noise-induced hearing loss. An ecological framework provided the theoretical foundation for this study. Fifteen Latino construction workers participated in one of four focus groups exploring perceptions of exposure to noise on the job and barriers to and supports for wearing hearing protection. Support for an ecological framework was apparent in the environmental and personal factors revealed in the data: how
