The Effect of Digital Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia in People With Co-Morbid Insomnia and Sleep Apnoea (COMISA): A Pilot Randomised Controlled Trial.

Co-morbid insomnia and sleep apnoea (COMISA) is a prevalent and debilitating condition. Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTi) is an effective but largely inaccessible treatment in patients with COMISA. We aimed to test a self-guided interactive digital CBTi program tailored for COMISA and insomnia alone. A pilot randomised controlled trial was conducted to investigate the effect of an interactive tailored digital CBTi program, versus digital sleep education (control) on symptoms of insomnia, depression, anxiety, sleepiness, fatigue, and maladaptive beliefs about sleep in people wit

TAAR9 knockout increases hippocampal serotonin and alters grooming behavior in rats.

INTRODUCTION: Despite their association with brain disorders, the neurophysiological roles of the trace amine-associated receptors remain poorly understood. In humans, the genomic trace amine-associated receptor cluster comprises nine consecutive genes, six of which code for functional proteins (TAAR1, TAAR2, TAAR5, TAAR6, TAAR8, TAAR9). While homologues of the former three are known to regulate classical monoamines and neurogenesis, the functions of the latter three remain largely unknown. In this exploratory study, we demonstrate for the first time that TAAR9 plays a significant regulatory r

Spillover mechanisms linking intimate partner violence and child maltreatment: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study among Eastern European mothers.

BACKGROUND: Despite the high rates and detrimental consequences of co-occurring intimate partner violence (IPV) and offspring child maltreatment (CM), research regarding their potential spillover mechanisms is scarce. This study aims to examine the relation between IPV and CM and the potential mediating roles of maternal depression, anxiety and stress symptoms as well as children´s externalizing behavior problems. Within this model, the potential moderating effect of mothers' own history of CM in the link between IPV and maternal depression, anxiety and stress symptoms is investigated. METHOD

Exploring Consequences of Predator Stress on Behaviors of Mice Lacking Trace Amine-Associated Receptor 5 (TAAR5).

Recent studies indicated a connection between trace amine-associated receptor 5 (TAAR5) and emotional behaviors related to anxiety and depression; however, the neurobiological basis of this link is still unclear. Using mutant TAAR5 knockout (TAAR5-KO) mice, we explored the consequences of receptor deletion on dopamine (DA) dynamics in the ventral striatum and stress-related behaviors. Voltammetric measurements of DA in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) coupled with electrical stimulation of the ventral tegmental area (VTA) revealed that mice lacking TAAR5 display a greater DA release, while its reup

Cannabidiol attenuates diet-induced metabolic endotoxemia, neuroinflammation, and anxiety-like behaviors in male aged rats.

Obesity and aging synergistically reinforce neuroinflammation and disruption of homeostatic mechanisms, triggering pathological behaviors such as increased anxiety. Cannabidiol (CBD) has been reported to exert anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects, supporting the hypothesis that it may attenuate the detrimental consequences of obesity, even in aged animals. To test this hypothesis, 18-month-old male Wistar rats were divided into four experimental groups: control + vehicle (CT + vehicle), CT + CBD, cafeteria diet + vehicle (CAF + vehicle) and CAF + CBD. The animals were fed

Does incontinence in a child with bladder exstrophy negatively affect caregivers? A mental health inventory survey.

INTRODUCTION: Urinary continence is a goal of bladder exstrophy epispadias complex (BEEC) surgical management. However, it is often not achieved until school age or later. Little is known about the mental health implications of this incontinence on caregivers and whether this should affect timing of surgical interventions to achieve continence. We hypothesized that caregivers of children with continuous incontinence or dry intervals <1 h per day/night exhibit adverse mental health outcomes. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relationship between urinary incontinence of children with BEEC and caregive

Impact of negative emotions on upper gastrointestinal diseases: A Mendel randomization study.

Mendelian randomization method is a powerful tool in epidemiological research. The core idea is to use genetic variation as a tool to assess the causal relationship between risk factors and specific diseases. Confounding factors are important interference factors for causal inference in epidemiological studies, and genetic variation in Mendelian randomization studies follows the principle of random distribution of alleles to offspring, which is similar to randomized controlled trials. Mendel 's randomization method can effectively avoid the confounding factors, reverse causality in observation
