Molecular and Serological Diagnosis of Strongyloides stercoralis Infection Among Cancer Patients at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Strongyloidiasis, caused by Strongyloides stercoralis, is a neglected disease with a worldwide prevalence, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Most people have chronic asymptomatic infections, which may transform into potentially fatal hyper- or disseminated infections when immunosuppressed. Cancer patients on corticosteroids are at an increased risk of developing severe forms of the infection due to their impaired immune status. The present study used molecular, serological, and parasitological methods to detect S. stercoralis infection in cancer patients on corticosteroids. Usi

A universal live vaccine platform against multiple serotypes Streptococcus suis based on polyvalent antigen protein.

Streptococcus suis (S. suis) is a major pathogen that poses a long-term threat to swine populations. Due to its foodborne transmission, this pathogen has recently emerged as a leading cause of meningitis in humans, presenting a significant public health challenge. Currently, no vaccine is available to combat this disease, particularly a universal vaccine capable of addressing multiple subtypes of S. suis. In this study, we developed a universal live vaccine candidate against multiple serotypes S. suis based on the polyvalent antigen protein SE6. A live Salmonella Choleraesuis (S. Choleraesuis)

[Antibiotic resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in the University Hospital Olomouc in 2018-2023].

Due to increasing bacterial resistance to a wide range of antibiotics, there is a renaissance of colistin, an old polymyxin antibiotic that was previously abandoned for its adverse effects and is now increasingly used worldwide as a reserve antibiotic, especially in intensive care patients. Given the global increase in the prevalence of multidrug-resistant bacteria, this study focuses on secondary colistin resistance in clinically significant gram-negative non-fermenting bacteria Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia at the University Hospital Olomouc

Exploring trauma exposure and post-traumatic stress in university students of different identity statuses in Lithuania and Japan.

Emerging adulthood is the time when identity questions are addressed. It is also a time of excessive stress and risk for mental health problems. Different identity statuses relate to different mental health outcomes. Yet, little research has addressed how identity status is interlinked with trauma exposure and post-traumatic stress reactions, especially in multicultural contexts. The current study aimed to explore whether different traumatic experiences are related to the current identity status of university students aged between 18 and 29 years and investigate to what extent trauma-exposed e
