The effects of paper mill sludge, red mud and zinc fertilizer addition on remediation of acid cadmium contaminated paddy soil were studied in a pot experiment, and their beneficial effects were verified in a field experiment, by using lime as comparison. The present work assessed the physical interactions between several aryl propionic acid derivatives and polyvinyl(pyrrolidone) K30 (PVP), stored together at 298+/-0.5K at different relative humidities (RH 55, 75 and 86%). The Tinto and Odiel rivers are seriously affected by acid mine drainage (AMD) from the long-term mining activities in Iberian Pyrite Belt (IPB). As a consequence, the Huelva estuary is heavily contaminated by metals and metalloids. OBJECTIVE: We investigated the effect of dietary magnesium (Mg) deficiency on the bioavailability and tissue distribution of selenium (Se).
METHODS: Wistar rats were fed an Mg-deficient diet for 70 days (D). Selenium content in plasma, whole blood, skeletal muscle, heart, kidney and femoral bone was determined after 7, 35, 49 and 70 days on a Mg-deficient diet.
