Animal models are commonly used for translational research despite evidence that the methodology of these studies is often inconsistent and substandard. This study describes the characteristics and impact of published research using animal models in the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM). Peer-reviewed articles published in the AJSM between January 1990 and January 2010 using animal models were identified using MEDLINE. The articles were reviewed for funding source, anesthesia used, animal used, study type, study location, outcome measures, number of animals, duration of animal surviva

The Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) established a bilateral collaboration under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed (January 2021) to foster scientific exchange, capacity building, and health research ethics. NHRC officials comprising research officers, ethics administrators and journal office staff completed an exposure visits to the ICMR headquarters in New Delhi in February 2026. The visit's sessions were centered on ethical practices of ICMR's Bioethics Unit such as the functioning of ethics committees, clinical trial registries

Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is associated with significant comorbidity, preventable accidents and reduced quality of life. Little is known about the research priorities of patients with OSA, family members and clinicians. A James Lind Alliance research priority setting partnership was conducted. An initial survey (690 respondents who generated 1110 questions), a prioritisation survey (250 respondents), and a final workshop were used to identify the top 10 research priorities. Consensus was achieved on the top-ranked research priorities. Our results will inform the efforts of funders, resear

Adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma (ATL) is a distinct malignancy of regulatory T cell (Treg)/TH2 cells caused by human T-cell lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-1), with a high frequency of expression of CD3/CD4/CD25/CCR4 and FoxP3 in about half of the cells. However, in primary ATL cells, although expression of the virus, including the Tax oncoprotein, appears just after an in vitro culture, integration sites of the provirus into the host genome are random, and chromosomal/genetic abnormalities are complex. ATL is thus a single disease entity that is caused by HTLV-1 and possesses diverse molecular

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Ophthalmology has emerged as the proving ground for medical artificial intelligence (AI) because of its imaging-centric workflows, standardized data acquisition, and well defined clinical endpoints. Recently, the field has started transitioning from narrowly trained, task-specific algorithms toward multimodal models that are trained on large datasets and can be adapted to many tasks. These models may integrate information from images, text, and clinical data and are increasingly trialed in real-world settings. This review examines recent advances and ongoing controversies in

The National Institutes of Health (NIH)'s Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) consortium aims to accelerate translational processes that move discoveries from bench to bedside. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic presented unmatched challenges and applications for CTSA hubs nationwide. Our study used bibliometrics to assess features of COVID-19 publications supported by the national CTSA program to characterize the consortium's response to the pandemic. Our goal was to understand relative scientific influence, collaboration across hubs, and trends in research emphasis
