Although evidence supports the safety of medications to reduce distress during the procedure, their use remains limited. Although patients with HF often have a cardiac implantable electronic device, few studies have reported the utility of device-derived risk scores to augment and organize care. OBJECTIVES: This study investigated healthcare utilisation in general practice and hospitals in the 2 years preceding a diagnosis of haematological cancer and the association with patient pathways.
METHODS: The nationwide register-based cohort study included 12 994 patients diagnosed with leukaemia, multiple myeloma and lymphoma in 2014-2018 and 10 matched references. OBJECTIVES: Intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) antibiotics have comparable efficacy in treating neonates undergoing sepsis evaluations. There are no clinical data favoring the use of either route regarding newborn pain and parental preferences. We hypothesized that pain associated with IM injections would worsen breastfeeding effectiveness and decrease parental satisfaction, making IV catheters the preferred route.

The aetiology of systemic sclerosis (Ssc) is unknown, but there is evidence of environmental factors playing a part in disease development in a number of cases. By examining a group of male patients with Ssc we found significant exposure to silica in 26% (6/23) of the patients compared to 2,1% in the general working population in Denmark. In the article we review the association between silica and Ssc and suggest how to question and refer patients with SSc who are suspected to have been exposed to silica.

The start-up costs incurred when instituting Hospital Based Managed Care (HBMC) and using CareMaps in a large mid-western teaching hospital are analyzed. The complete cost analysis of developing the first CareMap, Cesarean Section, is included. Cost analysis of an additional CareMap, Normal Vaginal Delivery, is available for comparison for the developmental phase of the CareMap. The CareMaps were designed by the same multidisciplinary team though 18 months apart.
