A 29-year-old woman with sickle cell trait developed persistent haematuria. Intravenous urography, ultrasound, cystoscopy and selective renal angiography revealed focal renal infarction, but in the absence of papillary necrosis. There are no prior reports of focal renal infarction as a cause of haematuria in patients with sickle cell trait.

A case of salpingo-vesical fistula is presented which occurred in a forty-six-year-old female two years after a vaginal hysterectomy. The patient's presenting complaints included pelvic and right lumbosacral discomfort, aggravated by urination. Cystoscopy revealed the fistula, and the patient was successfully treated with a salpingo-oophorectomy.

Ileovesical fistulae are rare in Crohn's disease and may occur at any age and any stage of the disease. Typical diagnostic pointers are pneumaturia and fecaluria. Cystoscopy and the cystogram are important pointers to the diagnosis. Resection of the intestine and partial resection of the urinary bladder is the treatment of choice and leads to healing, as is demonstrated in the discussion of a case.

Three patients with urinary difficulty were cured by surgical removal of a viaginal fibromyoma. The appearance of this benign tumor on an intravenous cystogram and cystoscopy as well as the clinical response to surgical removal bears similarity to the hypertrophied prostate in men. The best surgical technique for its removal is enucleation via a vaginal incision.

This report describes two episodes of acute cystitis associated with "mixed flora" in an elderly male following a cystoscopy. The initial episode was accompanied by pyuria and a positive nitrite test. Both episodes responded to treatment with nitrofurantoin. Urine cultures were negative prior to the episodes and at a 1-year follow-up.

We present a case of a 43-year-old man treated for urethral stricture. Cystoscopy showed unusual tissue in the posterior urethra. Biopsies showed adenocarcinoma which was positive for cytokeratins 7 and 20 and negative for prostate specific antigen. Immunohistochemistry in this case was important for the diagnosis, primary urethral adenocarcinoma.
