OBJECTIVES: We aimed to evaluate our experience with fenestrated sheet split-thickness skin grafts (STSGs) in the pediatric population.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively studied a cohort of 17 children 2-18years old who underwent skin grafting owing to circumcision injuries (2 patients), traumatic penile injury (1) and after previous multiple hypospadias surgery (14). Fenestrated 0.012in sheet STSGs from thigh area (15 patients) and buttock area (2) were fashioned to resurface the denuded penis following reconstruction. Permanent tattooing due to blast injuries is a rare condition. Treatment with various different methods often yields unsatisfactory results. An innovative way to remove permanent traumatic tattoos is presented. A normal curettage blade is simply compressed with a pincer in order to create the new device. OBJECTIVE: To introduce the surgical procedure and indication of the reverse fascial pedicle island flap of the digital artery dorsal branches in repairing finger skin defect.
METHODS: By use of the dorsal branches of the digital artery as the pedicel, the reverse island flap was designed. The skin defects of the proximal interphalangeal joint and beyond in 35 cases (42 fingers) were repaired and the joint or extensor tendon was reconstructed simultaneously. Donor site was primarily closed or a skin graft was used. The flap size ranged from 1.0 cm x 2.5 cm to 1.5 cm x 3.5 cm.

A new type of flap is described based on unnamed perforators located near the midline of the lower back region. Such flaps combine the superior blood supply of the myocutaneous flap with the lack of donor-site morbidity of a skin flap. Five clinical cases are presented, showing how such perforators can augment skin flaps or create custom-designed island flaps. The dissection of the flap is described, and further possibilities for its use are suggested.
