OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study is to develop a portable, handheld multimodal sensing device for rapid, localized, and quantitative assessment of donor organ tissue. A human-sized swine lung was used as a representative model system to evaluate device feasibility and performance.

INTRODUCTION: Recent data have emerged about a protective association between JCV viruria and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Material and Methods. Single-center retrospective cohort study; 230 living kidney donors (LKD) candidates and 59 potential living kidney receptors (LKR) were enrolled. Plasma and urinary JCV and BKV viral loads were measured in all LKD candidates and in nonanuric LKR candidates. Twenty-six living kidney transplant surgeries were performed. We present a case of pediatric ALF, secondary to hepatic HL, who underwent a successful ABOi living donor liver transplant. We believe this is the first such case reported in academic literature. PURPOSE: Glaucoma drainage device surgery (GDDS) has gained popularity, with outcomes equivalent to trabeculectomy. Erosion of the tube through the overlying conjunctiva may occur in 5%-10% of eyes. Donor corneal tissue has been used as a patch graft for GDDS.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a prospective proof of concept study in 10 patients undergoing GDDS.
