BACKGROUND: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) can eradicate dysplasia and intestinal metaplasia in patients with dysplastic Barrett's oesophagus … (mean length of 8.7 versus 4.8 cm, P < 0.0001). More patients had reflux oesophagitis identified on gastroscopy in the PR group compared to GR group (12 (44%) versus 20 (16%), P = 0.001).
CONCLUSION: Factors such as circumferential and maximal length of BO and presence of reflux oesophagitis on gastroscopy are associated with poorer response to RFA.

An FDG PET with diagnostic CT was performed on a 52-year-old man for investigation of lymphocytosis and the clinical suspicion of lymphoma. The PET/CT demonstrated diffuse small bowel uptake, prominent mesenteric lymph nodes without significant FDG uptake, and other features suggestive of celiac disease. Subsequently, the patient was found to have markedly elevated celiac disease antibodies (deamidated gliadin IgG and tissue transglutaminase IgA) and to be HLA DQ2 and DQ8 allele positive on genotyping for celiac disease. Gastroscopy and duodenal biopsy also confirmed the diagnosed.

This is a case of a 14-year-old woman diagnosed with acute pancreatitis based on history and laboratory investigations. CT scan confirmed the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis along with the presence of two bezoars in the stomach and proximal jejunum. We describe a 45 year-old man with a fibrovascular polyp attached to the entrance of the oesophagus. The patient had a history with regurgitation of polypose foreign body 4-5 years ago with spontaneous remission. Later the patient developed dysphagia, chest pain and weight loss. Gastroscopy revealed a large polyp in the oesophagus and biopsies showed no malignancy. Excision was intended to be performed endoscopically, but due to size, risk of bleeding and recurrence the operation was changed to a transcervical procedure. After one week the patient could eat and drink normally.

A 39 years old woman was noted to have a submucosal gastric tumor during gastroscopy for cholecystectomy. She was asymptomatic regarding this tumor. A 56-year-old man underwent triphasic computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen as part of his work-up for liver transplantation. A mottled, rounded lesion with a dense rim was noted in the gastric lumen, which remained unchanged in appearance in the arterial, portal venous, and delayed phases of the CT. Gastroscopy performed three days later confirmed the presence of trichobezoar. The foreign body was broken down into smaller pieces by an endoscopic snare and was passed out spontaneously. The clinical presentation, radiological findings, and management of trichobezoars are discussed.

UNLABELLED: We report on a case of childhood coeliac disease presenting with tricophagia and trichobezoar. The combination of obstructive symptoms, severe hypoalbuminaemia and a large abdominal mass detected on CT scan warranted diagnostic gastroscopy and laparotomy, resulting in removal of a large gastric trichobezoar. Surgical recovery was uneventful although serologic studies for coeliac disease were abnormal. Coeliac disease was confirmed by subsequent biopsy.
