PURPOSE: To analyze and compare the total proteome of aqueous humor (AH) from patients having primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG), primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and age-related cataract.
MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY: Aqueous humor was collected from age-matched PACG, POAG and cataract patients who underwent surgery, and it was immediately stored at - 80 °C until analysis. From each sample, 25 µg of total protein was subjected to trypsin digestion and subsequently LC-MS/MS analysis was performed for the deep proteome analysis. The data acquired after the LC-MS/MS analysis were analyzed usi

BACKGROUND: Nanophthalmos is a rare congenital ocular disorder characterized by a microphthalmic eye with abnormally thickened sclera. Although scleral histopathology has been described in elective surgical cases with normal intraocular pressure (IOP), scleral architecture during acute IOP elevation exceeding 60 mmHg remains unclear. This article reports unique histopathological findings obtained during an episode of refractory acute angle-closure glaucoma.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 63-year-old man with lifelong high hyperopia (corrected with + 10.25 D spectacles) presented with acute severe ocula

Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG), an irreversible blinding disease characterized by retinal ganglion cell damage and optic nerve atrophy, exerts significant effects on brain functional networks. Using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data from 34 PACG patients and 34 matched healthy controls (HCs), we extracted four types of connectivity features-voxel-wise static functional connectivity (FC), dynamic functional connectivity (dFC), effective connectivity (EC), and dynamic effective connectivity (dEC)-via the AAL90 (Automated Anatomical Labeling 90) atlas follo

OBJECTIVE: Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is a globally prevalent, irreversible eye disease leading to blindness. Previous neuroimaging studies demonstrated that PACG patients were associated with gray matter function changes. However, whether the white matter(WM) function changes in PACG patients remains unknown. The purpose of the study is to investigate WM function changes in the PACG patients.
METHODS: In total, 40 PACG patients and 40 well-matched HCs participated in our study and underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scans. We compared between-gr

PURPOSE: Glaucoma is the main blindness-causing disease in the world. Previous neuroimaging studies demonstrated that glaucoma not only causes the loss of optic ganglion cells but also leads to the abnormal function of the optic nerve pathway and the visual cortex. However, previous studies also reported that patients with glaucoma have dysfunction in the visual cortex in a static state. Whether or not patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) were accompanied by dynamic functional connectivity (FC) changes in the primary visual cortex (V1) remains unknown.
METHODS: A total of 34 pa
