OBJECTIVE: Uterine cancer has no routine screening. Early diagnosis requires timely/appropriate evaluation of symptoms - most commonly postmenopausal bleeding (PMB). We examined initial place of care for PMB and its association with uterine cancer stage at diagnosis.

A recurrent abscess of the thigh, associated with a broad ligament abscess, presented in a postmenopausal woman with cirrhosis of the liver. This unusual complication has not been reported before. The risk of serious morbidity and mortality from the combination of these two coexisting lesions is obvious, and gynecologists and surgeons should be prepared for early surgical intervention.

In most instances, patients with an acute abdomen and pneumoperitoneum have a perforated hollow viscus as the underlying cause. Clinicians must not forget, however, some of the less common causes of free air in the abdomen. We describe pneumoperitoneum from a vaginoperitoneal fistula, developing after hysterectomy, well known to gynecologists, but rarely noted in the medical literature.

In this paper we present the base history of a 49 years old patient suffering from acute bladder outlet obstruction caused by a large leiomyofibroma of the perivesical connective tissue. A 4-cm leiomyoma was found in a woman with the Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. It was discovered six years after she presented to a gynecologist. INTRODUCTION: Acute abdominal pain caused by torsion of the pedunculated subserosal leiomyoma is rare. Miss diagnosis can lead to ischemia, necrosis, and subsequent peritonitis which may cause significant morbidity. Torsion of the leiomyoma should be recognized as a surgical emergency and once suspected, early surgical intervention should be considered.

Evaluation of tubal patency is an essential part of a fertility workup. Laparoscopy with chromopertubation in conjunction with hysteroscopy is the gold standard in evaluation of tubal patency and the uterine cavity. In this review article we describe a newer method for evaluation of the uterus and fallopian tubes, that is, hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy). Accuracy of HyCoSy for tubal patency has been shown to be comparable to that with hysterosalpingography (HSG) when compared with laparoscopic chromopertubation. CONCLUSION: Nonpuerperal inversion of the uterus is rarely encountered by gynecologists. Diagnosis of uterine inversion is often not easy and imaging studies might be helpful. Surgical treatment is the method of choice in nonpuerperal uterine inversion.
