The PrP gene of the host exerts a major influence over the outcome of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) disease, but the mechanism by which this is achieved is not understood. We have introduced a specific mutation into the endogenous murine PrP gene using gene targeting to produce transgenic mice with a single amino acid alteration (proline to leucine) at amino acid position 101 in their PrP protein (P101L). In order to compare the standard swim-up semen preparation with and without test yolk buffer (TYB) incubation in intrauterine insemination (IUI), we conducted a prospective multicentre randomized trial. OBJECTIVES: We assessed the impact of holding BC bottles under room temperature (RT) or 4°C for a series of holding times (2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 16 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h) before loading BC into the continuous-monitoring instrument.

We studied the effect of increasing and decreasing the deuterium level on the mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), Ca2+ homeostasis, and neuronal death in the rat cerebellar neurons in vitro.
