In a primary study on proinflammatory genetic profiles in stroke, the authors found the E469K polymorphism of the intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) highly represented in the subgroup with spontaneous cervical artery dissection (sCAD). They further investigated the same genetic variant in a second group of 65 patients with sCAD. An association between sCAD and EE genotype was confirmed (odds ratio 3.16; p < 0.01), indicating that a proinflammatory predisposition is a risk factor for sCAD.

BACKGROUND: In this review we discuss the role of inflammatory cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) in ischemic stroke and in delayed cerebral ischemia after subarachnoid hemorrhage. Vascular endothelial cells and leukocytes express several inflammatory adhesion receptors, the most important of which are the selectins, immunoglobulin gene superfamily CAMs, and beta2 integrins. OBJECTIVE: Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare and aggressive type of B-cell lymphoma with large cells growing within the lumen of blood vessels. Although previous reports revealed highly variable symptoms resulting from small-vessel occlusion by neoplastic cells in a variety of organs, there are few reports of IVLBCL with pituitary involvement.
METHOD: We present a case of IVLBCL with pituitary infiltration from our institution together with a literature review of similar cases to better understand this rare case of IVLBCL involving the pituitary gland.

OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the relationship between serum inflammatory factors and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) findings of atherosclerotic plaques in patients with stable and unstable angina.
METHODS: Thirteen patients with stable angina (SA) in group A and nineteen patients with unstable angina (UA) in group B underwent study.
