Migration and development of Paragonimus kellicotti were studied in cats killed between 1 and 265 days after feeding 15--20 metacercariae from the hearts of naturally infected crayfish. Metacercariae excysted in the intestine and appeared in the peritoneal cavity within 24 hr. Some young flukes penetrated the diaphragm and migrated to the pleural cavity during the first week, but the majority penetrated the pleura between 10 and 14 days. The correlation between enterobiasis and urinary tract infection was studied in girls aged 6-14 years. Enterobius ova were demonstrated in anorectal scrapings, carried out three times in each case. Of the 84 patients suffering from urinary tract infection, 55 were Enterobius positive, as compared to 60 among 100 control girls. The difference was not significant. Enterobiasis was not found to be more frequent even when urinary tract infection reappeared within 6 months. A comparative trial was carried out in 4 orphanges in Seoul, to compare the anthelminthic efficacy of oxantel-pyrantel suspension and mebendazole tablets against mixed infections of Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura. 40 patients were divided into 4 groups and received oxantel-pyrantel suspension at 15 or 20mg/kg once only or on 2 consecutive days. The relation between the level of serum immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA and IgE) percentage of T-lymphocyte and egg counts was studied in dogs infected with Ancylostoma duodenale. The serum IgG levels were significantly high and a marked significance was noticed also in the levels of IgM and IgE. An inverse relationship between the concentration of IgG and egg count and a direct association between the percentage of T-lymphocyte and IgG level was proved.

The survey was done to determine the incidence and seasonal prevalence of the gastrointestinal helminths infecting Maine dairy cattle. Approximately equal groups of calves, heifers, and cows from 13 dairy farms, managerially and geographically representative of dairying in the state, were sampled at regular 2-month intervals over the period of a year. Anthelminthic resistance in nematodes of beef cattle is an emerging issue globally with implications for effective parasite control. The prevalence of resistance in beef cattle in the Mediterranean-style climatic zone of south-west Western Australia was assessed on 19 farms, using faecal egg count reduction tests. The fast dot-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (FD-ELISA) was used as a field applicable tool for rapid diagnosis of schistosomiasis.
