INTRODUCTION: Integrated approaches have been promoted as a solution to challenges in delivering high-quality care for aging populations. Despite their theorized benefits, the system-wide influence of integrated home and community care models remains poorly understood.
METHODS: We systematically searched MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO) and AgeLine (EBSCO) for studies examining the influence of integrated home and community care programs on outcomes aligned with the Quadruple Aim and Health Equity framework.
RESULTS: Forty-seven peer-reviewed articles were included, representing five program t

Technology-facilitated intimate partner violence (TFIPV) is increasingly featured in cases of intimate partner violence and intimate partner homicide. There is emerging recognition of the use of technology to abuse and control intimate partners in domestic abuse research and the inherent complexity of TFIPV is evident. As such, a better understanding of the factors that influence TFIPV is necessary. This scoping review aimed to synthesise extant literature on factors known to influence TFIPV. The review included 84 peer-reviewed primary sources that focused on adult intimate relationships (at

BACKGROUND: Unsafe abortion accounts for a significant proportion of maternal and reproductive health related mortalities and complications … beliefs, health, economic factors, and family.
CONCLUSIONS: Factors such as societal pressure and peer influence that, to date, have been the backbone of sexual and reproductive health, anti-abortion stigma, and unsafe abortion education and interventions have minimal influence on abortion decisions among the students. Rather, these interventions must focus on …

The present study aimed to examine how video feedback can affect perceived performance and anticipatory anxiety in various naturalistic social anxiety-provoking situations among clinical patients diagnosed with social anxiety disorder (SAD) and to examine predictors that might influence response to video feedback. Participants were 52 consecutive patients with DSM-IV SAD who participated in a group-based CBT program. Our results demonstrated that video feedback was associated with a decrease in the underestimation of own performance as well as the perception of feared outcomes. Moreover, antic

Interest in the influence of context on the psychosocial development of adolescents led to the examination of neighborhood effects on the experience of adolescent life stress. Because of concerns regarding the population and ecological validity of existing measures of adolescent life events, the research group developed a scale for the measurement of life events among urban adolescents based on data from focus group interviews in the community of interest. Investigators utilized three strategies to examine the impact of neighborhood on adolescents' perceptions of life stress in a sample of 114

This study examines the relationship between (a) characteristics of adolescents' social networks, personal resources, and environmental risks; and (b) adolescents' behaviour problems. A socio-ecological perspective was used to determine whether social support and perceived conflict operate as risk or protective factors. Three samples of adolescents were studied: 63 adolescents in residential care; 29 in day treatment; and 63 who had had no contact with professional care. Interrelations were explored by means of structural equation modelling. Social support in family and peer group may operate

BACKGROUND: Methods for developing a core outcome or information set require involvement of key stakeholders to prioritise many items and achieve agreement as to the core set. The Delphi technique requires participants to rate the importance of items in sequential questionnaires (or rounds) with feedback provided in each subsequent round such that participants are able to consider the views of others. This study examines the impact of receiving feedback from different stakeholder groups, on the subsequent rating of items and the level of agreement between stakeholders.
METHODS: Randomized con

Despite decreasing overall smoking rates, ethnic inequalities in smoking persist. Although smoking is largely a social behavior, the underlying social network mechanisms for this are still unclear. We disentangled and tested potential social network mechanisms responsible for persistent ethnic inequalities in smoking. We applied Stochastic Actor-Oriented Models for 1644 friendships of 299 Roma and Non-Roma Hungarian adolescents in nine classes and 1605 antipathies of 294 adolescents in eight school classes over two panel waves. Adolescents were more likely to nominate same-ethnic peers as frie

BACKGROUND: Community health workers' (CHWs') performance may be affected by several factors interplaying at the systemic level. There is a need to study those factors in the indigenous context to devise strategies for optimising the CHWs' performance. Hence, this study was conducted to understand the individual, health system and community level drivers of CHWs performance in Maternal and Child Health services and to decipher the interactions between CHWs and their stakeholders.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVE: Social factors play a critical role in drug addiction. We recently showed that rats will abstain from methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and remifentanil self-administration when given a choice between the addictive drug and operant social interaction. Here, we further characterized operant social interaction by determining the effects of access duration, effort, peer familiarity, and housing conditions. We also determined choice between social interaction vs. palatable food or remifentanil.
METHODS: We first trained single-housed male and female rats to lever-press fo

Anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa have emerged as the predominant eating disorders. We review the recent research evidence pertaining to the development of these disorders, including sociocultural factors (e.g., media and peer influences), family factors (e.g., enmeshment and criticism), negative affect, low self-esteem, and body dissatisfaction. Also reviewed are cognitive and biological aspects of eating disorders. Some contributory factors appear to be necessary for the appearance of eating disorders, but none is sufficient. Eating disorders may represent a way of coping with problems of…

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is an inherited disorder in which affected individuals are stigmatized by virtue of physical differences from their peers. The extent to which these differences alter life style depend on the severity of the disorder, its natural history, the extent to which it affects social integration, the effect on physical appearance, and the presence of other affected family members. Some of these factors may adversely influence the ability of affected individuals to effectively adjust to their social and work environment and recognition of these factors may aid individuals a

BACKGROUND: Learning interest is an intrinsic motivation that dynamically interacts with friendships. Students alter their learning interests to assimilate with their friends and actively establish friendships on the basis of similar interests. These processes do not operate in isolation but rather in the broader peer context. Class-level social-emotional competency (SEC) is a contextual characteristic that influences students' social and learning processes.
AIMS: This study used reading and mathematics as examples to examine the moderating role of class-level SEC in the friendship influence

BACKGROUND: Adolescents in out-of-home care face higher mental health risks and exhibit significant behavioural difficulties associated with these risks. Resilience processes involve a complex interplay between individual, family and community characteristics, enhancing mental well-being while reducing the risk of depression and anxiety. Despite its significance, research on resilience factors in Thai adolescents in out-of-home care remains limited.
METHODS: This cross-sectional study explored the factors influencing resilience among adolescents living in five out-of-home care facilities in B

BACKGROUND: Physical activity is one of the best documented activities with impacts on health in children and adults. Children born preterm show reduced physical and psychosocial function compared to children born at term. This may influence their level of physical activity. Reports on moderately preterm children's physical activities during childhood are limited. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the leisure time physical activity at age 9-11 years of moderately preterm children with that of children born at term.

BACKGROUND: Muscle dysmorphia (MD) is characterized by an excessive concern of not being muscular enough. Sociocultural influences appear to play a central role in the internalization of muscular beauty ideals and the development of MD. No study has examined the potential mediating pathways from sociocultural pressure sources through internalized beauty standards to an algorithm-defined MD diagnosis in the general German population.
METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among adults (≥ 18 years) in Germany via the Online Platform Prolific®. Participants completed standardized questi

BACKGROUND: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been shown to be elevated among first responders (Emergency Medical Services, fire service, police force) compared to the general population. Examining the prevalence of mental health issues in a work force with an elevated occupational risk is fundamental towards ensuring their wellbeing and implementing safeguard measures. The goal of this study is therefore to report the prevalence of depression, anxiety, posttraumatic development, and PTSD in Norwegian ambulance personnel.
METHODS: This study is a cross-sectional, anonymous, web-based s
