A 63-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with complaints of abdominal distention and bilateral cervical masses. Her serum AFP was 11700 ng/dl. AFP was confirmed immunohistochemically by biopsy of a sigmoid colon tumor, yielding a diagnosis of AFP-producing carcinoma of the sigmoid colon, accompanied by multiple liver metastases, and systemic multiple lymph node metastases. Minimally invasive surgical techniques and procedures continue to evolve with the trend toward fewer and smaller instruments. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of sigmoid colon resection utilizing needlescopic technology. A patient with adenocarcinoma of the sigmoid colon producing alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is described. Hepatoid differentiation is suggested by the morphological appearance and production of hepatic-type AFP. The possible histogenesis of such a tumor is discussed.

The sensitivity between double contrast barium enema (DCBE) and sigmoideoscopy in diagnosing neoplastic lesions in the sigmoid colon was compared in patients with diverticulosis. In 52 patients with severe diverticulosis (> or = 15 diverticulas) the DCBE detected one out of 4 polyps found by sigmoideoscopy. In the remaining 54 patients with mild diverticulosis (< 15 diverticulas) DCBE detected 7 out of 10 polyps found by sigmoideoscopy. BACKGROUND: Radiation therapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has recently turned into an appealing and promising approach to enhance the anti-tumor immunity and efficacy of immunological drugs in many tumors. PURPOSE: To describe the clinical features and surgical management of pediatric colorectal duplication.
METHODS: Twenty-five patients with colorectal duplication at Beijing Children's Hospital between January 2010 and December 2020 were reviewed. Colorectal duplications were divided into cystic, diverticular, tubular and mixed types according to shape.
