Simultaneous Crestal Sinus Elevation and Implant Placement Using a Ribose Cross- Linked, Collagen Bone Graft Material: Case Series of 28 Consecutive Patients.

The anatomic proximity of the maxillary sinus to the apices of molar and premolar teeth is a significant factor when considering implant therapy to replace maxillary posterior teeth. An emerging field within tissue engineering is the application of xenografts capable of stimulating de novo bone regeneration. This article presents a technique using a crestal approach to sinus grafting utilizing a novel bone graft material composed of porcine, ribose cross-linked collagen seeded with a nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite mineral. This highly cohesive biomaterial is able to minimize graft migration, w

Grafted bone remodeling following transcrestal sinus floor elevation: A cone-beam computed tomography study.

BACKGROUND: Transcrestal sinus floor elevation is a reliable procedure when additional bone height is needed for maxillary implant placement. However, the grafted bone undergoes remodeling and the dimensional stability of grafted bone height may be affected by several clinical factors, including graft material, sinus anatomy and the morphology of grafted space. METHODS: This retrospective study examined patients who had undergone transcrestal sinus floor elevation with synthetic biphasic calcium phosphate and single implant placement. The reduction of sinus graft height (GHR) after 6-8 months

Clinical and radiographic outcomes of reentry lateral sinus floor elevation after a complete membrane perforation.

BACKGROUND: Although small perforation of the maxillary sinus schneiderian membrane is a well-documented complication during lateral sinus floor elevation (LSFE), complete perforations larger than 10 mm often result in discontinuation of surgery. Reports on reentry LSFE and its long-term outcomes are sparse. PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term outcomes of reentry LSFE following complete membrane perforation to elucidate the technical details of the reentry procedure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We assessed the medical records of all patients receiving LSFE from 2008 to 2017 in the Department of Or

Advances in autogenous dentin matrix graft as a promising biomaterial for guided bone regeneration in maxillofacial region: A review.

Autogenous dentin matrix (ADM), derived from a patient's extracted tooth, can be repurposed as an autologous grafting material in reconstructive dentistry. Extracted teeth provide a source for ADM, which distinguishes itself with its low rejection rate, osteoinductive capabilities and ease of preparation. Consequently, it presents a viable alternative to autogenous bone. Animal studies have substantiated its effective osteoinductive properties, while its clinical applications encompass post-extraction site preservation, maxillary sinus floor augmentation, and guided bone tissue regeneration. N…
