OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to analyze experience on pediatric liver transplantation (LT) between June 1993 and September 2006, including split liver transplantation (SLT), living donor liver transplantation (LDLT), and auxiliary partial orthotopic liver transplantation (APOLT). Furthermore, hepatocyte transplantation (HT) had a role in one patient with metabolic disease.

OBJECTIVE: To review the presentation of eclampsia and its outcome on the mother and babies in our environment with a view to suggesting strategies for improvement.
METHODS: A retrospective study at 93 cases of eclampsia treated at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Sagamu was undertaken. Data was collected by scrutinizing the case files collected from the medical records library after collecting their numbers from the labour ward register.

PURPOSE: Clinical autopsy rate have been declining since the 1950s, but it remains a useful investigation tool.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Through six examples of our experience, we underline its interest for clinical, didactic and public health purposes.
CONCLUSIONS: We try to understand the reasons for its decline and, as demonstrated, it can be attributed to a number of factors. These need to be addressed in order to reassert the status of the autopsy as an investigation and audit tool which is crucial to the future effectiveness of modern medicine.

Imipenem is an expensive broad-spectrum antimicrobial, reserved for infections caused by multi-resistant nosocomial pathogens. Subjects were 626 patients reporting vertigo or dizziness seen at the University Hospital Department of Otolaryngology from April 2001 to September 2003. Patients were diagnosed based on diagnostic criteria prescribed by the Japan Society for Equilibrium Research. In this report, the author presents circumstances surrounding suicide in university students through the analysis of cases of suicide in Tsukuba University students. Since beginning cardiac transplantation in 1985, Duke University Medical Center has performed 485 de novo heart transplants in adult recipients. Our program has broadened the access of patients to transplantation through the aggressive use of ventricular assist devices as bridge to transplant in patients with acute heart failure and shock, as well as through the introduction of an alternate list program for suboptimal transplant candidates. Despite this broadening of the recipient pool, our long-term outcomes have remained good, with 5-year survival of 75% and 10-year survival of 51%. Continue

We compute the force on a small neutral polarizable object moving at velocity v--> relative to a photon gas equilibrated at a temperature T. We find a drag force linear in v-->. One hundred fourteen living-donor liver transplants were performed at Tokyo University hospital from 1996-2000, including 66 children and 48 adults. Most (86%) of the children were transplanted for biliary atresia, whereas adults were more often transplanted for primary biliary cirrhosis (40%) or liver cirrhosis (23%) due to hepatitis or other unknown causes.
