A 4-year-old girl with pectus excavatum (PE), multiple prior respiratory infections, tracheomalacia and tracheal compression due to the innominate artery was referred for surgical evaluation. Aortopexy was deemed unlikely to improve airway diameter due to her chest concavity. Thoracoscopy-assisted PE repair was performed, resulting in marked improvement in the anteroposterior diameter of the trachea and resolution of her respiratory symptoms. Durability of the PE correction at 2 and 7 years following bar removal was demonstrated radiographically.

BACKGROUND: Follicular bronchiolitis is a histopathologic finding that occurs in diverse clinical contexts. The current study was conducted to characterize clinico-radiologic features, and assess outcomes associated with follicular bronchiolitis.

There is no current consensus among published guidelines on whether noseclips are required during spirometry testing. Seventeen patients with diagnosed sarcoidosis were administered a number of psychological instruments to assess anxiety, depression, life stress, and symptoms of agoraphobia and/or panic. Fifteen patients with both nonallergic asthma and symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux were studied before and after an eight-week period of vigorous antireflux therapy, which included ranitidine hydrochloride, 150 mg twice a day.
