Pediatricians daily encounter children with systemic cyanosis. The numerous reasons for cyanosis in neonates and infants include pulmonary, hematologic, toxic, and cardiac causes. A total of 49 cordocenteses, including 40 intrauterine intravascular fetal blood tranasfusions, were performed in 30 pregnancies complicated by red cell isoimmunization. Transfusions were started at 19-33 weeks' gestation and repeated up to five times, at one-to-four week intervals. The volumes of transfused blood were 20-110 ml, hematocrits were 58-82 percent and the rate of transfusions was 1-15 ml/min. Lysosomal storage diseases are a rare but significant cause of non-immune hydrops fetalis (NIHF). In 17 cases of NIHF detected by ultrasound, the activity of five lysosomal enzymes was measured in leukocytes or plasma of 1 ml of fetal blood obtained by cordocentesis. By this approach seven lysosomal storage diseases known to present with hydrops fetalis can be diagnosed. In this series one case of mucopolysaccharidosis VII (M. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between depersonalization induced by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and regional brain activation.
METHOD: Cerebral blood flow (CBF) was measured by means of positron emission tomography (PET) in 59 normal right-handed volunteers before and following intravenous infusions of THC.

UNLABELLED: Acute endocarditis with negative blood culture is a challenge requiring close cooperation between several specialists.
CASE REPORT: A 15-year-old boy presented with an acute aortic endocarditis due to Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Blood cultures were negative due to an empiric anti-infective therapy. Valvular replacement with a mechanical prosthesis failed to cure the sepsis, which resolved after a cryopreserved allograft implantation.
