The ultrastructural organization of mouse submandibular gland from 15 days gestation to 180 days of age was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy. At 15 days of gestation several groups of acini, intercalated and striated ducts were present. They consisted of numerous pyramidal and/or polyhedral cells with spherical or elongated nuclei and short microvilli. There were studied 68 patients admitted with clinical signs of chronic gastritis. Biopsies were taken by endoscopical route from the antral and fundic levels in all cases, and paraffin slides were stained with haematoxylin-eosine, modified Giemsa, Warthin-Starry and blue cresyl methods. Seventy-eight patients affected by inguinal hernia, 33 by direct and 45 by indirect external oblique types, were studied. There were cytologically studied 42 patients admitted with radiologically suspected tumors of the upper urinary tract. Samples of voided urine and washing of the upper urinary tract were taken, and dried smears were stained with blue polychrome-tanin method. The authors compared the ultrastructure of lamellar complexes in the penis skin of the green monkey and in the woman's clitoris skin. Immunohistochemical techniques were used to examine testis biopsy specimens in subjects of different ages, in whom histological examination of the seminiferous tubules revealed a reduction in number, immaturity or absence of germinal elements. Six cases of essential thrombocythemia (ET) have been investigated in bone marrow as well as in blood cells. In majority of the cases, the bone marrow aspirate was hypercellular and presented an increased number of megakaryocytes, some of them with displastic appearance. The ultrastructural pattern of platelet peroxidase permitted us to identify atypic megakaryocytes and megakaryoblasts, particularly when present in pheripheral blood.

The course of cranial nerves was studied by means of magnetic resonance (MR), which allowed a multiplane visualization of the investigated structures. The obtained results showed that MR was an excellent method for visualization of the optic, trigeminal, facial and acoustica nerves. The oculomotor and the abducent nerves were detectable only in some regions where the contrast with the surrounding structures was greater. The glossopharingeus, vegus and accessory nerves were identifiable only in the first tract of emergency from the encephalic trunk and they could no be distinguished separately.
