Serial brain FDG-PET and IMZ-SPECT following intracerebral MSC transplantation in patients with subacute ischemic stroke.

Ischemic stroke is a leading cause of mortality and long-term neurological disability worldwide, and cell-based therapies represent a promising approach. Although clinical studies have reported favorable outcomes following cell transplantation, the effects on host neuronal integrity remain incompletely understood. This study investigated temporal and spatial changes in fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) and 123I-iomazenil single-photon emission computed tomography (IMZ-SPECT) after intracerebral cell transplantation in patients with subacute ischemic stroke and examined

Prognostic impact of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography and cardiac magnetic resonance-proven cardiac involvement in pulmonary sarcoidosis: a single centre long-term cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease, often affecting the lungs, with a generally favourable prognosis. However, some patients experience progressive disease, and cardiac involvement may worsen outcomes. Data on the clinical course and causes of death in pulmonary sarcoidosis (PS), particularly with coexisting cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), remain limited. METHODS: We retrospectively analysed patients with histologically confirmed PS. Baseline evaluations included chest X-ray and computed tomography, pulmonary function tests, and echocardiography. CS was diagnosed based on t

Radiological and FDG-PET imaging features of Epstein-Barr virus-positive primary central nervous system lymphomas.

BACKGROUND: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-associated primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare form of extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma closely linked to immunodeficiency. Imaging characteristics of EBV-associated are reported to differ from those of typical EBV-negative PCNSL. This study aims to describe the radiological and nuclear medicine imaging features in a large cohort of patients with EBV-associated PCNSL. METHODS: We conducted a multicenter retrospective descriptive study between 2008 and 2025 on patients with a diagnosis of EBV-associated PCNSL. MRI variables and FDG-PE

Elevated 18F-FDG uptake in non-metastatic lymph nodes of POLE-mutated endometrial cancer on PET/CT.

PURPOSE: DNA polymerase epsilon (POLE) exonuclease domain-mutated endometrial cancer (EC) is associated with a favorable prognosis and significant immune cell infiltration. Cancers with significant immune cell infiltration often exhibit higher maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between POLE status and FDG-PET/CT imaging in patients with EC. METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled 102 patients (mean age, 56.2 ± 11.8 years) with EC who underwent preo

A Comparison Study of Olmesartan and Valsartan Effects on Myocardial Metabolism in Patients With Dilated Cardiomyopathy: the OVOID Trial.

BACKGROUND: Myocardial metabolism plays an important role in maintaining cardiac function. Patients with dilated cardiomyopathy exhibit alterations in myocardial metabolism characterized by increased myocardial glucose metabolism. This study aimed to evaluate effects on myocardial metabolism of the angiotensin II receptor blockers olmesartan and valsartan in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. We hypothesized that olmesartan, owing to its stronger and longer-lasting angiotensin II receptor blockade, would lead to a greater reduction in myocardial glucose metabolism compared with valsartan.

PET/Computed Tomography Transformation of Oncology: Kidney and Urinary Tract Cancers.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and urothelial carcinoma (UC) are two of the most common genitourinary malignancies. 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-d-glucose (18F-FDG) can play an important role in the evaluation of patients with RCC and UC. In addition to the clinical utility of 18F-FDG PET to evaluate for metastatic RCC or UC, the shift in molecular imaging to focus on specific ligand-receptor interactions should provide novel diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities in genitourinary malignancies. In combination with the rise of artificial intelligence, our ability to derive imaging biomarkers that are as
