A case of a woman with a hereditary angioedema in combination with chronic renal failure is presented. The chronic renal failure is a late consequence of complications which had occurred in the course of a difficult parturition. The difficult parturition was probably the result of an expressed edema of the vaginal wall. The therapeutic difficulties in this case are pointed out.

The material for this report is based on the examination data produced from 105 patients with a single kidney who were operated on for contralateral kidney tuberculosis. We report on a 52-year old male with simultaneous bilateral adrenal metastases from renal adenocarcinoma. The patient was submitted to radical nephrectomy, including the ipsilateral adrenal, and contralateral adrenalectomy, and received coadjuvant steroid replacement therapy. The patient died 11 months post-operatively. Similar cases previously reported in the literature are reviewed.

Ultrasonography has become fairly standard for assessing common complications of renal transplantation such as hydronephrosis, urinomas, and lymphoceles. Infarctions are a less common complication that may occur in the setting of transplant rejection. We report a case in which an apparent solid mass on sonography proved to represent normal residual renal parenchyma in a kidney with a small shrunken lower pole due to infarction.

Disorder of microcirculation in different organs, including kidney, is one of the pathomorphological features of sudden cardiac death (SCD). The paper presents the report on renal microcirculation pattern in 345 cases of SCD. Routine ultrasonographic detection of renal tract dilatations in pregnant women is used to define a high risk population for urinary tract infections. In a first group of 96 patients with symptomatic urinary tract infection, 34% of the cases of uncomplicated infection were accompanied by ultrasonographic abnormalities, while 73% of cases of pyelonephritis presented such signs. Antibody coated bacteria were only found in 12% of uncomplicated urinary tract infections and in 30% of cases of pyelonephritis. A decade (1973-83) of surgical experience in the management of the diseases of horseshoe kidney is presented. Calculus disease was the major pathological entity (80%) followed by ureteropelvic junction obstruction, nephrocarcinoma and polycystic disease, respectively. Three patients with calculi had, in addition, pyonephrosis and squamous cell carcinoma. Symptomatology in thirty patients with hydatid cyst of kidney treated in the Urologic Clinic, UHC, Avicenne, Rabat, was florid (83% with pain and 43% with a mass in the flank) and sometimes specific (27% of cases). Ureteral obstruction or perforation must be considered as a cause of poorly functioning renal transplants. Sonography and radionuclide scanning will demonstrate outflow obstruction and/or pararenal fluid collection, but do not usually provide sufficient information on the site of the lesion. In these cases we have successfully used fine-needle puncture of the renal pelvis under sonographic guidance, and antegrade pyelography. This technique shows excellent anatomical details of the renal pelvis and ureter.
